Should be 'best by' or 'no longer guaranteed by' date. IE, that suit may be perfectly fine, but the manufacturer is no longer liable for it. Food, that's a different story, but even those dates are off by months sometimes.
When it comes to food I will have results of the live testing when our family will reach the bottom of our freezer. There should be items over there all the way from 2015! [wink]

I get the feeling with how bungled everything has been in response to the virus that the supposed 1000 dollar checks aren't coming, the unemployment checks aren't coming, the free testing isn't coming, the aid isn't coming, and soon I fear the food isn't going to be on shelves.

We've all been fed bullshit to keep us from burning the cities down. We're being led around in circles with a carrot on a stick and we're definitely getting the stick.

Fauci and Trump are both playing their role appropriately IMO. Trump is trying to install hope and confidence. Fauci needs to be the data guy and the realist.

I have faith in the American people. I look forward to hearing good news about increasing supplies from our corporations big and small joining the fray to support our doctors fighting this battle.
I don't have a dog in that fight, but I can understand the medical professionals' more cautious approach. I'm not a Dr., but have past regrets in not following the credo. ("Do No Harm")

Hippocratic Oath

I swear by Apollo the physician, and Asclepius, and Hygieia and Panacea and all the gods and goddesses as my witnesses, that, according to my ability and judgement, I will keep this Oath and this contract:
To hold him who taught me this art equally dear to me as my parents, to be a partner in life with him, and to fulfill his needs when required; to look upon his offspring as equals to my own siblings, and to teach them this art, if they shall wish to learn it, without fee or contract; and that by the set rules, lectures, and every other mode of instruction, I will impart a knowledge of the art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to students bound by this contract and having sworn this Oath to the law of medicine, but to no others.
I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgement, and I will do no harm or injustice to them.
I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.
In purity and according to divine law will I carry out my life and my art.
I will not use the knife, even upon those suffering from stones, but I will leave this to those who are trained in this craft.
Into whatever homes I go, I will enter them for the benefit of the sick, avoiding any voluntary act of impropriety or corruption, including the seduction of women or men, whether they are free men or slaves.
Whatever I see or hear in the lives of my patients, whether in connection with my professional practice or not, which ought not to be spoken of outside, I will keep secret, as considering all such things to be private.
So long as I maintain this Oath faithfully and without corruption, may it be granted to me to partake of life fully and the practice of my art, gaining the respect of all men for all time. However, should I transgress this Oath and violate it, may the opposite be my fate.

At the risk of oversimplifying, that New Yorker article said that Hong Kong and Singapore had managed to
keep almost all their healthcare workers from getting infected, largely with just surgical (not N95) masks, hand washing,
and keeping six feet apart for all interactions that did require actually touching someone.

Transmission seems to occur primarily through sustained exposure in the absence of basic protection or through the lack of hand hygiene after contact with secretions.
Where 'sustained' was being closer than six feet to someone who was not wearing a mask, for longer than 15 minutes.

Couldn't we ramp things up in this country again but stick to that protocol? If they can keep hospital workers, who
are facing infected people all day, from getting sick, with these guidelines, shouldn't that also work for the general
population? The virus can't just walk over and jump in your face, it apparently needs to be spit out from closer than six feet.
Put masks on everyone so they don't eject it, and stay six feet from anyone when possible, and it appears like that will
have a huge effect on transmission.

Early on in the thread a number of people posted links to articles that pointed to the early reports of Wu Flu seem to point back to end off Oct/Early Nov 2019

Fast forward to Jan 2020 and we all know the WHO pitched a fit over Trump's order regarding travel to US from china......

Looks like WHO has royally effed up.....

Taiwan shared their findings with WHO back in November 2019......WHO effed up and sat on their hands

This would help to explain why Taiwan has not been significantly impacted by Wu Flu........

Edit: I think we're going to need an entire thread of WHO incompetence/f*** ups related to Wu Flu alone

Looks like the CCP is moving towards saving face by blaming Xi and making him "Go Away" for Wu Flu

Bernie should take a notice! [rofl2]

Commies love to entertain masses with trials and immediate executions a la Fat Kim's Commie World.

I think it could but getting the general population to wear masks will take some work both in terms of supplies and mindset. I have been doing my part by wearing a mask in public for the last week and a half.

Without clinical trials you don't know if the treatment helps patients, does nothing, or makes patients worse.
The question

this would be really interesting how it turns out. If Vinnie wasn't afraid to dissappear Ren dude, may be he is baiting people to come out against him, then have them die from virus.

I think he's upset because he saw Fauci once, "face to arse at a supermarket."

Anyone who surrounds himself with toadies and yes-men isn't a leader I value, even if he's a Republican with good SCOTUS picks.
I'm with you on that. I don't have much respect for so-called leaders who must constantly have their egos stroked. Sadly, too many leaders are like that.
“The president has listened to what I have said and to what the other people on the task force have said, when I have made recommendations he has taken them. He's never countered or overridden me, the idea of just pitting one against the other is just not helpful,” Fauci said.
Right from the horse's mouth
Fauci has a place......its subordinate to the president.......its that simple.

Dont undermine your boss......doesnt end well ......
Again, how exactly does Fauci "undermine" the president? You're just really failing to make your case. You talk shit but utterly fail ro provide us with any evidence or examples to support your opinion.

Also, Fauci is not a political appointee. He's in an entirly different league than most of the others . He's also been around a long, long time. He's respected, he's credible.

Ford To Begin Making Respirators Using F-150 Truck Parts and not just Ford
“Ford, General Motors and Tesla are being given the go ahead to make ventilators and other metal products, FAST!” he [President Trump] tweeted.
...
General Motors announced it would help ventilator manufacturer Ventec increase its production by allowing the company to use its manufacturing and logistics expertise and infrastructure.
This is the kind of response that makes sense, with government helping to coordinate, not the "let's give everyone a few pesos so they vote for us and re-engineer society for socialism" crap the Donks are trying.

I'm with you on that. I don't have much respect for so-called leaders who must constantly have their egos stroked. Sadly, too many leaders are like that.

Kadyrov, the long-time head of his majority Muslim Republic, has offered his take on today's biggest issue – the coronavirus pandemic.

Arguing that the fears over the disease that manifests itself with flu-like symptoms have been blown out of proportion, Kadyrov called on the public to come to their senses and stop overthinking the problem.

“People lose sleep because a disease appeared in China: the virus," Kadyrov said, addressing a local government meeting on Saturday. "They are afraid that it comes [to them] and they’ll die. Don’t be in a rush, you’ll die anyway. Don’t try to die before your time."

The Chechen leader noted that while the rapid spread of Covid-19 has been the talk of the town, other diseases like the ordinary flu keep claiming thousands of lives every year.

As with pretty much every other serious illness, “those who are in sound health will overcome it [coronavirus], those who are not, won’t manage to,” Kadyrov said, while recommending that all those anxious about their health work on strengthening their immune system using traditional means.

“Mix lemon with honey and water and drink – then the virus won’t get you. Eat your garlic,” he noted.

Chechnya, which has a population of over 1.3 million, has yet to report its first case of the virus, which has infected at least 59 people across Russia, most of them – 25 – in its capital, Moscow. Six of the patients have since recovered, and there have been no deaths from Covid-19 in the country.
-----------
Kadyrov is a real leader, he proudly shares with everyone that he has murdered his first Russian when he was only 16!

If you knew the message that your boss wanted to convey to you think it would help or hurt if you countered your boss publicly?

Fauci's role in this is related only to medical/cdc.......but as we all know thats far from the only consideration from a larger picture.......

There's everything from employment to supply chain to national defense to a raft of other considerations that arent in Fauci's wheelhouse....cuz he's not the president......he's one of a large number of subordinates

Europe is going back to surgical masks because respirators on sick people still spread the virus.

I already shared with you here that we are all using surgical masks with pads inside and we are fine.
