So I have read the other threads about long term storage i.e firing pin forward, action closed etc... I have a shotgun I only use for pheasant. With work I have to choose my hunting days carefully. Therefore I pick and choose between deer, turkey, rabbit, and pheasant. If were to not go pheasant hunting should I apply extra CLP to the internals?

Too much oil can run down into the stock and ruin the wood (and it's not good for plastic stocks, either). It attracts and holds dust and dirt, too. My pheasant gun this year will be a 1913 double-barrel Ithaca. It hasn't been a safe queen, but it's been kept clean and dry with a minimum of lube. With all the dry lube products on the market, there's really no reason to use a lot of oily liquid. If your storage area is dry, guns won't deteriorate by themselves.
