I talked to my sister tonite. She lives in Hubbardston and was motivated last summer same as me by the stuff in New Orleans to become a gun owner. We took the GOAL Basic Pistol course together under Jon Green in October. She applied in late January -- and just got her Class A-ALP 2 days ago!

Cool!
No doubt that the NOLA incident has created a surge in new licenses nationwide. Now to educate them about the truth.

I just LOVE hearing when another woman gets smart. [smile] Tell her I said welcome to the family of females who will no longer be helpless and defenseless. (now she just needs to become proficient [wink] )

Will do! Now, to get her to buy a .22 target pistol......

Mark, when you do, get pix and send them to Kim du Toit - he likes to publish that stuff on his blog.

congrats to your sister, BTW! I think that I'll get my sister to shoot a gun about when Old Scratch starts taking skiing lessons! (Darn it, Derek! Where's our [roll] smiley!)

good for her! We need more women out there to help equalize the testosterone.

No offense guys. But I AM starting to get tired of having to put the toilet seat down in the WOMEN'S bathroom at the range...

congrats to your sister.

i'm glad to hear that more women are learning to protect themselves

i'm trying to talk my sis into learning how to use a firearm.seeing that my brother-inlaw will be going overseas sometime with in the next month or two and she'll be home alone at night with her three kids(oldest is only 11)granted they have an alarm system on the house, but still want her to be able to protect herself and the kids.

That's the best part of it -- more guns for me to shoot![smile]

It's the main reason I've been holding off on getting a .22 target gun. Now to talk her into a 1911 as her house gun.....

THey are controllable, when using moderately light loads. And those light loads also work well for defensive purposes.

She definitly wouldn't have any problem with a 1911. She shot a .357 with defensive loads at the GOAL class and had no problem at all.

What a woman! That's like hearing about the icing on the cake. [laugh] Good for her!!
