DETROIT -- A West Bloomfield Police officer who took a department car and sub-machine gun to a Detroit Tigers game Wednesday night is under investigation.

Between 8-10 p.m., as the officer attended the game, someone broke into the undercover car as it sat parked on Woodward and stole a .9 mm Colt SMG sub-machine gun from the back seat along with some ammunition, said Detroit Police Sgt. Omar Feliciano.

The gun is Colt's lightweight version of the M-16 rifle, according the gunmaker's Web site. It will fire all standard .9 mm bullets and is designed for close fights.

The West Bloomfield officer -- who both police departments declined to name -- is a three-year veteran.

Note the ".9 mm" nonsense - must be a graduate of the same technical writing school that produced the author of the Boston "buy-back" article. And what is an "SMG sub-machine gun;" the ultra-compact model? [rolleyes]

That's good to know...

If they can't shoot for shit single fire, what the hell are they going to do with 700 rpm?

Don't you know Derek? All evil black guns are machine guns.

And, why is it sitting out in the open for someone to see? I mean, for someone to break in and take it, it had to be where someone could see it...or they knew that it was there.

He sold the damn thing for 3K..... 3 year vet? Making tons of cash too I assume.

Make him take a polygraph...

Ya know Derek, There is a lot of personal info about Brent you know that we really don't want to know how you know

Ya know?

(^_^)

Day 1 of no heavy pain meds, just Ibuprofin. Little sore, hurts to move, but not as bad as I'd expected. Very happy to loose the 'weeeee' factor.

I know some local police carry sub-machine guns. A sergeant in Mansfield is issued a SIG .223 as part of the regional SWAT team. I saw him at the range when he pulled it out from behind the back seat of his truck when he asked if I like SIG's. I think they should have them. The scumbags do, so why shouldn't WELL TRAINED police? It's a tough world out there.

Derek you owe me a keyboard. I read that while I was drinking a Coke and I laughed and sprayed coke all over it.

As for the officer, get em in County with a number on his jumpsuit, let em stay there for say about 12 hours in general population, make sure the inmates know who he is and what he's there for and I gaurantee you he'll never do it again.

From what I've heard, Wayne County lockup isn't a good place to be if you're a BG let alone a LEO.

3 year veteran?

In what profession, besides the military, are you considered a "veteran" after only 3 years?

I bet he was planning on showing up to work with a shiny new car the next week!
