I was adding a bunch of ammo boxes to my Amazon cart when these MTM combos popped up. They have them in a bunch of calibers so I'm getting a set for everything I need boxes for. I've used both the boxes and cans but never seen them offered as a combo. The price is decent; it's almost like getting the can for free. It's *almost* a 50 cal can but slightly different dimensions.

The cans stack, have an o-ring, latches and holes for luggage locks. They're not rugged like the .mil cans, but for brass and whatnot you can't beat 'em.

I gave up on boxes a long time ago. I store my ammo in one quart zip lock freezer bags. Cheap and air tight.

I was doing this for a while but it got to be a hassle, especially with pointy bullets like .223. It doesn't take much for a bullet to make a hole then the next thing you know you've dumped 100 rounds on the floor. Or maybe I just buy cheap ziplock bags. The bags definitely take up much less space than the boxes.

The only thing I use plastic ammo cans for anymore is random range stuff like small targets, staple guns, paint cans, etc. The lids are too weak and bow if you actually fill them with 1k rounds of anything.

I strictly use 50cal steel cans for all ammo. You can put 2k+ 9mm or 1200 .223 in a 50cal can. They stack nice and keep a seal long term. Worth every penny. You can find them surplus a bunch of places for decent money, especially if you order them in batches of 5 or 10.

I just use the plastic bins for organization and storage. Right now I've been moving clean brass out of randomly sized/shaped containers into these plastic cans and they work great. My reloading room is an embarrassment right now, but I'm slowly getting it tidied back up. I hold no expectations that these things would work for long term storage.

As for the ammo boxes, I like how nicely they stack up in my (locking) filing cabinet for storage and then again in my (locking) toolbox for transportation to the range. For someone as slovenly as me, somehow these things make sense to me.

I've got a few of these can/box combos coming tomorrow. I guess there's no need to do a write-up; I just spotted them for the first time the other week and wanted to pass the info along.
