Yeah. We were young and clueless. Of course, as soon as my wife found out it was a compound, the only thing she wanted to do was LEAVE! LOL.

Oh, and back then, "all inclusive" was billed as "don't bring ANYTING with you, mon!" So no cash is brought. Maybe $100. Wife want's a tour. $80. I can get out $50/day on my CC at the front desk, for a $10 fee added to the bill. So to get $100, I had to pay $20 and wait TWO FARKIN DAYS! Just for her excursion. Part of the excursion was shopping. We skipped that because. . . . WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY MONEY!!!!

What a beautiful place. Truly gorgeous. I never felt safe.
 
Only been to Jamaica once, in 2007. Stayed at an all inclusive, but left the resort to go to town, shopping and sight seeing. Never felt unsafe. The resort was not locked down or anything, just the usual security guard at the entrance to keep non hotel guests from going in and getting free stuff, no different than any other all inclusives I've been to. The most security was on the beach to keep the locals from coming on land to sell stuff to the hotel guests. They are allowed to stay on or in the water, but can't come on the sand as the beaches are private.

Unless the law has changed, you have to have Jamaican Citizenship, which is a pain in the ass. I looked into it a few years ago, because my wife is Jamaican born, I'm eligible for Dual Citizenship. My mother-in-Law has cancer and has less than a year to live. So if I go to Jamaica after her funeral, it'll be somewhere I shouldn't need a firearm.

It’s in the video, local politician is calling for the right to bear arms for all law abiding citizens so they have a chance to fight back against armed criminals and defend their communities. And what stupid game did she play, going on vacation?

I always bring my Girls to Jamaica or they go on their own, but we're a different story.
Most of the murders in Jamaica are gang on gang. Granted, crime has gotten increasingly worse over the last 25 years amongst the regular folk and the tourists. It's like anywhere else, keep your wits about you, at all times, and you'll be fine.

We're in the East Bum Section of Jamaica, kinda like West/Central NH between Keene and Sunapee.

Thinking she was safe in a third world country. I have vacationed in Mexico and just this year Dominican Republic. I had no illusions about how safe it would be outside of the gated resorts. You think we Americans are racist?? Try being white outside the gated resorts in a 3rd world country unarmed.

On a diving excursion in DR talked to a black-ish cop from NJ, his best friend is from DR. In my opinion he looked like the natives, skin color wise, but doesn’t speak Spanish. He has been to the DR many times, in the real DR, said he sticks out like a sore thumb....cut, well trimmed, half black cop wearing average clothes. Says he has been very uncomfortable among the natives, even when with native DR friends. Said he was picked as American by everyone, and all ladies from nasty to hot wanted to jump his bone!!!

Point being, just because liberals want the whole world to be peaches and cream, does not make it so. It’s a jungle out there, kill or be killed.

True enough, I work with some Jamaican people and they have stated that tourists are protected by the community but sometimes are killed anyway by random a-holes. But the people from there who go back with some money are frequently targets for robbery. Sh*t happens everywhere but you’re right she probably didn’t have good situational awareness especially if she was traveling alone. Still sucks though.
 
I really think the bigger lesson here is that this is what the world is really like. Outside of a few places outside the US and a few European and Asian countries. Most of the work is not a safe place.

The SJWs can piss and moan all they want about perceived “micro”aggressions. while outside of the bubble wrapped USA safe spaces and crying rooms shit gets really sketchy and actually dangerous real fast. You ARE a piece of meat, a meal ticket an ATM and do have a target on your back.

They dont give points for victimhood or one ups on victim status in most places in the world. You get to be a statistic c in a beurocrat’s files. And nobody really cares.
