The Police Department has asked its officers to look out for guns disguised as cellphones, fearing that they could be slipped into courthouses and other official buildings. The alert to officers, issued last week, was reported yesterday in The New York Post. The .22-caliber guns, which are believed to be manufactured in Europe, can fire four rounds in rapid succession by pushing number buttons on the phone's face. Joe Greene, a spokesman for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, said the agency had not yet seen the phones in the United States. The guns are heavier than normal cellphones, the Police Department said.
