An Alabama cop shot and killed his estranged wife just days after police returned his gun - nine months after he had it seized for shooting her in the arm.

Jason McIntosh, 46, from Birmingham, was handed the pistol despite being subject to a restraining order and 16 days later used it to kill 31-year-old Megan Montgomery after frog-marching her out of an oyster bar in front of her friends.

The marketing professional's mother on Saturday slammed the decision to return the weapon, while even the shooter's lawyer described it as 'irrational, illogical and not prudent'.

He persisted.

Doesn’t federal law forbid people under a restraining order from touching guns or ammunition? (That’s rhetorical)

Is he getting his customary 2 years of 'paid' police vacation where he gets paid but doesn't actually come to work prior to being shuffled off to prison? How do guys like this make it through the screening process? Obviously the guy had some screws loose.

Too bad she hadn’t gotten her own guns after getting shot in the arm and stalked. The headline could have been quite different. Now she’s dead.

Why are we discussing getting his guns back.
He should have been in jail for shooting her the first time, just like everyone of us would be.

They were “wrestling for the gun” apparently and had a ND.
Didn't get that far in the shitty article - had to go back and read it.
If she was the aggressor why was he the only one slapped with a RO.

But my comment still stands - if lowly non-cop had ND'd a round into our crazy wife we would still have been tossed in jail until a jury decided our fate.

Special rules for special class members.
If a sufficiently p¡ssed off set of dead wife's parents
hire a sufficiently tenacious civil litigator,
all the Deep Staters who conspired to return the murderer's gun
are not gonna like the subsequent public exposure.

Significantly compounding the problem
is that the murderer didn't kill himself afterwards.
Yet.
Once the powers that be realize what they've got on the line
I predict the cop's gonna commit Arkancide real soon now.

They were actually hoping for a mass shooting spree, but he only got one.......

They determined she was the aggressor because he was a cop and if they determined he was the aggressor it looks bad on them. Sort of like when the Florida cop murdered his ex-girlfriend when she broke up with him they determined it was a suicide.
