Hi guys,
I'm considering a membership at Acushnet Rifle & Pistol Club, and wondered if anyone here is a member and could give me some feedback. I've done some searches here and haven't found much about it, other than it being mentioned off hand a few times with not much info. It is close to where I live & work and I don't need an outdoor range on a regular basis, so seemed like it might be a good fit, as long as it doesn't tend to be too crowded. I'd love to tour the facilities sometime as well. Thanks in advance for any input! [grin]
 
I am surprised nobody has answered you yet because there are members of Acushnet R&P on this forum. I am not a member (yet - Arthur and Charlie are working on it) but I do shoot there several times year in league competition. It has a nice range with 8 positions and I am pretty sure all pistol cartridges are allowed. Good heat and ventilation and lighting and a clubhouse with a bathroom. What else do you need?

Thanks for the info Marvel! I shot Charlie an email last night and he got back to me right away,,, recommended I come to one of the pistol matches on a Monday or Tuesday night to meet some of the guys. [grin]
 
I had the priviledge of meeting a member there last weekend for a FTF deal and got a little tour. Sending in my membership app and dues tomorrow. [wink]
 
I was going to inquire about this club as well. Until this E-mail I just recieved.

I E-mailed them because I wanted info on their Safety course as their website instructed me to do. My E-mail read

"I am looking for information about the safety course offered by you."

I left the E-mail open as I wanted either a detailed email about the entire course (for my wife) so I knew what she would be doing and because I would be attending with her for support even though I am already licensed.

Here is the informative response I got:

"WTF kind of email is this?!?!?! What kind of information? This is whywe don't allow new members without a sponsor. Too many stupid peopletrying to join. How about actually using your words like a big boy andasking for what you want. Actually don't bother because we won't letyou in the club anyway."

Maybe there is someone on here that can explain this, or supply me with a higher up's email address I can forward this too?

Sounds to me like someone shouldn't answer professional emails while piss drunk. But I wouldn't know, I'm just some idiot not good enough for their elite club.

Oh a dick? Check the third name down on the list. He's in charge of the email and web site. You can reach him at FTS Guns where he is part owner. I don't think they have a instructor anymore. John B use to do the classes for the club but he objected to the students being recorded on camera which the club required. Other members are instructors but won't use the club because they won't allow them to use the meeting room and other rules including the cameras.

Acushnet seems to have a general arrogance about their attitude towards people wanting to join and use their club, with an assumption that they are idiots with poor judgment.

I'm inferring that answering official club inquiries while pie-eyed shows a lack of class and intelligence, and displays poor judgment itself!

By noting "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks", I'm saying that people who lack class and judgment shouldn't go around complaining about others' lack of class, intelligence and judgment.

Yeah, whoever sent that reply is a dick! I don't care if the pope is on that list of officers, AND he penned that reply, still a dick.

Apparently you misunderstood me. I was not defending him whatsoever. He is a dick. In front of a keyboard or not. The biggest problem at that club for the last few years. And to correct something I posted earlier, he is not a part owner at FTS guns. I was told his partners gave up on him and walked so it's all his now.
