AC556. Positives and negatives??

I'm in the same boat as you and am looking into a .223 machine gun.

Downside? When they're out of parts, they're out of parts. Ruger will still warranty them, but since they're no longer produced, you could be up doody creek without a paddle unless you have something made. .22 kits are scarce too, I think ceiner made some.

They're a fun gun though, and I'm still weighing my options on it. I'm also considering an FN FNC, but they have similar limitations.

I have an AC556F and I love it. I also have and M16, Uzi RR and a Reising SMG. The AC is my favorite. I love the feel of the Rugers. Mine has been a real workhorse since it was make back in 81. Great guns just need to run factory mags through them.

If you can find an AC, grab it and get a .22 kit for it too. You wont be sorry.
