About 40 guns stolen from Lowell home

Looks like it was referred to committee on 1/22/2013. Based on the date, is it safe to assume that this was from last year's session?

Dunno. Jim Wallace wrote about it as "pending" in the March newsletter. Here's the first part of it:

For several months the GOAL membership has been made aware of the pending legislation filed by Governor Deval Patrick H.47 “An Act to Strengthen and Enhance Firearms Laws in the Commonwealth” and Rep. David Linsky H.3253 “An Act to Reduce Gun Violence and to Protect the Citizens of the Commonwealth”. Both of these bills have been officially assigned to the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. Both of these bills got the initial attention, but unfortunately there are others that if passed would greatly affect our Second Amendment Civil Rights.

One such bill is H.3257 “An Act Providing for the Secure Storage of Large Numbers of Firearms” filed Rep. Kevin Murphy of Lowell. There appears to be some language missing at the end of the bill, but it clearly would limit how many guns we can legally store without the use of a “locked safe or vault”. Apparently trigger locks would no longer be sufficient if we own more than five guns...
