A2 Birdcage....Is it still considered a flash hider when used on a caliber like 22lr?

I will be picking up a m&p15-22 in the MA configuration pretty soon and I happen to have a A2 Birdcage off of an old upper I had. If I permanently install it on the 15-22 is it still considered a flash hider even though its being used with caliber other then the one it was designed for?

I always wondered what the ATF's classification system was. If they verify a flash hider will only hide flash on a certain caliber. I.E. a Barret flash hider for a .50BMG isn't going to be a flash hider on a 5.56 or .22lr.

Nope, a flash-hider is a flash-hider regardless of caliber. If it is so designated by BATFE, then it becomes MA illegal (unless on a pre-ban gun).
