A Word on The NRA

I criticize the NRA - But not so the opposition hears me.
I criticize Trump - But not so the opposition hears me.

I criticize Warren, Sanders, Pelosi, Schumer (all of them) so that everyone hears me.

The NRA has had decades of strength - offset by a few years of weakness. NRA was started in 1871.

We will see who shows up when the SHTF really happens- 3%??? the last time - not sure we can find 3% now with the cry babies we have become!

We have gotten the government we deserve. SO FN SAD

Decades? Did the NRA apposed the NFA, GCA68, the problem portions of FOPA86? SO FN SAD

I may have already posted this here but will post it again. I walked away from the NRA a while back. I'm a GOA member because, at least they make serious and sincere efforts to protect our gun rights.

yeah! all the public criticism of the nra tells the opposition the nra is crumbling. not good in my opinion. on the national stage, the nra is the only game in town. these other groups, g.o.a. etc., well, you never hear bloomberg or any of the others even mention them. they're just not feared. at least yet.

They take my money and then send it all back to me 50 cents at a time in postage for nonsense that goes straight into the garbage.

You can ask to not get that stuff. I get maybe one sweepstakes mailing a year.
I held my nose this year and renewed. Since I'd let my membership lapse more than once in the past, this was the first year I got a ballot. And I enjoy the magazine. And yes, I'm a GOAL member too.

Dig deeper, you may find more bones!

Let's not be ludicrous here!
Did you read it and the other link that I posted. They voiced support for the bump stock ban and red flag laws too. I want a gun rights organization that doesn't voice support for infringements and that hasn't actively worked for infringements.

This, the NRA is the Mitt Romeny of gun rights organizations.

I liked your post and I agree with you. But you are very misinformed if you think the NRA (and I am a member) is the only “National Gun Rights Org” we have. Please take time to visit Gun Owners of America’s website and see what they are doing nationally, u won’t be disappointed. Lots of issues is putting it lightly. They have taken our money and ran with it for a long time now. They definitely need more than a good house cleaning to be back on top when it comes to gun rights. Also, please don’t label people who complain about the NRA as anti-gun or just as bad as the lefty democrats. You sound like they do because we have a different opinion. But yes! LETS STICK TOGETHER! God Bless!

Yesterday, television reporter asked Uncle Joe if he is letting his top campaign managers go. He has answered:"We are expanding the staff! We are adding people!"
Even Clueless Joe knows that public does not want any bad news and public EXPECTS that you will wash your dirty underwear at home while the doors are closed.
Let's learn how to do it now!

As messed up as the NRA is now, it is important to want to preserve it more than hope if falls apart and is replaced by [insert one or many other gun rights groups]. Those other groups may be more technically effective on the ground but it would make our cause weaker waiting for them to reach the level of power the NRA has on a national level.

The NRA is a symbol, albeit a corrupt bloated one, but one even RINO types somewhat fear. Losing that central figure in the fight, like losing an old general without a consensus replacement, only hurts the war effort.

With that said, of you were giving $100 a year before, now is the time to bump that donation to the minimum and give the rest to other organizations imo.

To anyone talking about market rates and Wayne's salary being justified, drop the straw man. I know a CEO gets big bucks because he makes big influence.

It's nonsense like this that I refuse to contribute to:
- billing the group’s ad agency $39,000 for one day of shopping at a Beverly Hills clothing boutique
- $18,300 for a car and driver in Europe
- requiring they pay $13,800 in rent for a summer intern
- $200,000 in air travel expense in one month

Add that to the legislative negligence mentioned above. Past victories don't excuse today's shenanigans. I don't want to see them burn. I want to see them get serious again.

Highest of "High Fives". I have a love/hate relationship with the NRA.
I wish they would straighten their shit out and really turn the screws for Gun Owners, and not on them occasionally.
Your short rebuttal was as perfect a reply as I've ever seen on the subject. [bow]

It will be placed here in perpetuity with deepest regards...
I wasnt alive or old enough to comprehend, but you know who was? The NRA.

The NRA is only as powerful as the GUN OWNERS it claims to represent.
If the NRA disappeared, nothing would happen the next day.
The NRA is not the only national gun rights organization and it is becoming less and less relevant. It's main relevance is as a strawman for anti-gunners to scream at when they are not screaming at the sky. WLP is more concerned about his suits and his tropical vacations than your rights. There are better organizations that you could white-knight for.

Well then high fives all around! [rofl]

So do I, and I also did not like it. BUT, we are no captains anymore! I also want out military to come back from stans without dealing with Taliban, but that will not happen.
NRA is a political organization, like it or not, and politics are results of voters.

I don't know that another group will ever wield the same power. I'd certainly like if it happens, but I don't hold out hope. It's easier to stomp on 6 bugs than 1 tiger, even if the tiger is currently made of paper.

Let them act as lobbyists. You don't need 76 board members and 40 trillion pieces of junk mail to be effective lobbyists. It's all the other crap they do that racks up the operating costs. And how many more donors and members would they have if they stripped it down to lobbying, mailing out a single car sticker a year, knocked it down to maybe 9 directors and dropped the membership fee to $20? Sure you'd need the organizations doing battle in the courtrooms (and I appreciate that the NRA is currently involved there themselves, to some good effect) to step up the fundraising, but do it as a co-promotion thing. Routing that money through the NRA machine first is inefficient.

Yes it's become political but you still shouldn't sell out the people that you claimed to stand and fight for while actually supporting gun control. I've been a member for over 20 years and I'm a patron life member but my money goes elsewhere until they stop supporting gun control and cut out the wasteful spending of the members money on extravagant lifestyles for those at the top.

And so here we are again.
We will loose the 2nd, because we do not have unity. The Left does have unity, and are willing to lie for what they want.
We will loose the NRA, because we do not have unity, more of us thinks we should just let it fade away because its not worth the effort.
We will loose our Liberties because the Socialists will outnumber us and are better at unity than we are.
Its' only a matter of time before we loose our interpretation of the Constitution and are goverened by their interpretation.
We don't have the unity it will take to defeat the left.

It's lose, not loose.

What exactly does the left have unity on? Hating Trump or something?

The fact that something has been done a certain way for generations doesn't necessarily mean it still makes sense to do it that way. The NRA is a dinosaur. A fat, bloated, dinosaur that shits on your head at the worst possible time.

You may lose yours, I'll keep mine.

"WHEN YOU BADMOUTH THE NRA YOU BECOME A. MOUTHPIECE for the DEMOCRATIC PARTY !"

LOL, artful trolling and well played if that's what you are doing. If sincere, I disagree.

You're so concerned about lack of unity but don't address lack of accountability. How about I set up shop as CEO of Brewer Rifle Expense Account for Sporting Target Shooters? Checks payable to BREASTS can be mailed to my Swiss chateau. Do it for the unity.

Go educate the over 20K that showed up in Virginia, most of them armed, to protest and didnt shoot anyone.

Go educate every Sheriff that said f*ck you to the State.

There is plenty of unity. There certainly is more unity than on the Liberal side.

Liberals have the backing of several billionaires, they bus trouble makers and welfare queens to their parades, which is why there are always fights and trouble. Without them busing people, they would get 100 people with luck.

Liberals might seem united, but they are far from it.

This is a forum and people disagree all the time. It is what it is. But dont assume that there isn't unity.

Edit:

When Monadnock needed money to fight the town, people here donated.

When Granby needed money to fight the town, people here donated.

When GOAL or Comm2A need money, people here donate.

When a fund was set up to protect gun stores, people here donated.

There are way too many examples for me to list them all, those are just a few. So, dont come here and talk about unity.
