Just saw this over at TheHighRoad.org, have not confirmed it yet.

Jeff died peacefully at home this afternoon
At the request of the family it is my sad duty to report the passing of our founder, Jeff Cooper. Jeff died peacefully at home this afternoon while being cared for by his wife Janelle and daughter Lindy.

There will be a private internment at Gunsite by invitation, with a public memorial service at the Whittington Center at a date to be announced.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

DVC,

Ed

Regrettably the info above is true, confirmed from those that knew Jeff and Janelle.

I'm just glad i got the chance to witness the man and his tricycle. Actually that's about all I ever saw of the man. He rode up on his 3 wheel ATV, walked into the class, stood watching for about 30 seconds, moved over to an instructor and wispered something and then rode away in a cloud of dust.

His mark on this world will never fade from those that honor freedom as he did.

What a loss to all of us.

I've leaned so much from the man. My respect for him as a Marine, an Historian, Teacher and Gentleman is unequaled.

May the wind be at your back Colonel!

A shooting buddy gave his son the middle name Cooper and didn't tell his wife why until some time later. I wonder how Jeff would feel knowing that this kid bearing his name is using a 9mm crunchenticker for his match gun.

RIP Colonel!

A true legend in his own time, who was responsible for teaching more people how to successfully survive a deadly encounter than anyone else to date!

My condolences to his Family and Friends, and my deepest respect and admiration for what he gave us during his life.

The 4 rules, and all his work with firearms tecnique, that coupled with the fact that he is probably the most quotable of anybody in the pro 2A camp. He will truly live forever.

We can only hope for the same.

Truely an example of Patton's opinion that, rather than mourn the loss of such people, we should be giving thanks for having had them among us in the first place.

RIP, Colonel.

I have some correspondence somewhere from him in reference to the sorry state of marksmanship that I found myself in the middle of while in the Army. I shall miss the Gunner's Guru.
RIP

I heard they buried him with a Glock 27. In his last days, he embraced a new cartridge, plastic guns and smaller platforms.

Remember reading his books in '66' when I was a 95 Bravo...
