Captain Spock stated, "An ancestor of mine maintained that if you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains – however improbable – must be the truth."

There’s much speculation among Trekkies that Spock was implying he was a descendant of Doyle.

That is one of my daughter's favorite lines!

ETA: Oh my god! That was epic. I had no clue that it was a reference to an TOS episode!!! Thank you for making my day so much better.

And yes...I am a nerd and proud of it!

There's some truth in that... but only some. It's been a couple thousand years since anyone came up with a truly original plot. What makes a show (movie, book, play, short story...) unique is what it does with that basic idea. Star Trek took a lot of old plots and did new and different things with them. That's why it was such a hit.

Spock: "Random chance seems to have operated in our favor."
McCoy: "In plain, non-Vulcan English, we've been lucky."
Spock: "I believe I said that, Doctor."
    -- "The Doomsday Machine"

"The best diplomat I know is a fully activated phaser bank." -- Scotty, "A Taste of Armageddon"

"Sir, there is a multi-legged creature crawling on your shoulder." - Spock, "A Taste of Armageddon"

And one from Babylon 5, just because:
"Understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, their side, and the truth." -- Ambassador Kosh

What a frickin commie show. TSG was great, but it was so commie in places. Like Synthahol - all the flavor, none of the effects. ????? And the whole no-money thing. At least the original ST it was a governmental mission, so they SHOULDN'T have money. It's like a battleship on the ocean. But every port that the Emptyprise entered, people were going around and running their economies without any currency. ?????

(I know - it simplified things. But C'mon. Synthahol???? Really???)

Worf: "You are both wrong. The only real question is whether you believe in the legend of Davy Crockett or not. If you do, then there should be no doubt in your mind that he died a hero's death. If you do not believe in the legend, then he was just a man, and it does not matter how he died."

"There's an old Earth proverb. Fortune favors the bold. Well, we're about to find out" - Captain Sisko DS9.

DS9 was the best of the star trek TV series IMHO. Captain Sisko was the best captain. He had a dark side not even Kirk could match. Making an entire planet uninhabitable for 50 years to evict the Maquis. Faking Dominion attack plans against Romulus to get them to enter the war with the Dominion. No other captain, not even Kirk, would have done such. While Picard drank "tea, Earl Grey, hot" Sisko drank Raktajino (Klingon coffee)! Worf was always an interesting star trek character (TNG and DS9). Garak on DS9 was also a very interesting character. Although Voyager had some good characters as well. 7 of 9.... va va voom!!! Tuvak was cool too. And the Doc.. But DS9 had the most interesting characters.

Yea, I'm a pretty big treky.

Here's the best one, hands down:

ToS: The Conscience of the King has private property (Leighton's house), mass murder, etc., etc.

Garak: "Look at you. You're pathetic! A confused child, trying to live up to a legacy left by her predecessors. You're not worthy of the name 'Dax'. I knew Jadzia. She was vital, alive, she owned herself; and you - you don't even know who you are. How dare you presume to help me? You can't even help yourself! - Now get out of here, before I say something unkind."

I am trying to find that damned video that used to be on youtube called "picard is indifferent" or something like that, but its not coming up at all. Basically someone did this mashup where picard was in different scenes and people would start talking to him and he'd just walk away, ignoring them. Or someone would get shot with a phaser in the background, etc... was pretty funny shit. I think I posted it here once 9000 years ago.

I don't know why people keep saying ST is a Socialist Utopia . Picard made one remark about not acquiring wealth and allot of people think the whole ST universe is full blow Commie LOL . Granted the whole ST verse isn't our Libertarian dream it isn't all no work Lesbian basket weaving either .

^^^ In the above clip @ 29 seconds you can see where James Doohan's right middle finger is missing.
It was shot off during WW2 at Juno beach, where he took six rounds of friendly fire.

    RIP Scotty.
