9mm lead loads

Anyone have a good load for 9mm 125gr. LRN?
Looking for one to shoot the steel plates with this summer and am getting frustrated trying to develop one that works and is clean.

I use 125 gr hard cast round nose and 4.5 gr. Titegroup.

I loaded some Carrol 125gr. LRN with 4.4grs. of Titegroup with WSP & OAL of 1.105 and if I hit the target 7 out of 10 times I was lucky!!! (And I know it was not me!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)!
Even though it was out of a Taurus PT99 I thought it would group better than that....
Hodgdon's website shows 3.6 - 4.0 of Titegroup for the 125 LRN...going to try some at 3.8grs. and see what happens.

Have not tried 231 yet in the 9mm but use 5.2grs. in my .45 with a 200gr. LSWC and it is a "one holer".

What does anyone think about 5.5grs. of Unique?

Unique is better for jacketed cartridges. I would start at 5.0...5.2gr.
231 will be cheaper and it does work well. I started w/ this load in a PT92AF years ago. W231 for targets, Unique for hunting/defense loads.

Thanks, I did some 3.8gr. of Titegroup and some 5.5gr. of Unique tonight and I am beginning to think it is the guns....used a PT99 & PT92AF and they both shot bad.
Will do up some in 231 tommorrow and see what happens...if that does not work I will have 2 Taurus's for sale!!!

My standard for years has been 5G. Unique with lead. 4.5G Universal is cleaner, but I havn't used the new revised clean Unique.
I use this for 9mm, 38 Super, & 9mm Largo.

I agree, this is a good functional load. I usually go just a bit lighter at 4.0 grains. I used a lot of Red Dot for the same loads in the past but found W231 to be cleaner.

I use 5.5g of Accurate #5. Chronies out to 1000 fps +/- 50fps.

Did you get a chance to try out the W231?

I just tested 4.0 and 4.2 gr of W231 with Berry's 125gr LRN (~1.150" OAL). I was getting ~1050 fps and ~1100 fps respectively out of my M&P9 full size. The 4.2gr seem to smoke more. I'm still getting used to the dillon and tried out the shooting chrony for the first time yesterday. They don't seem to group as nice as WWB though, I'm still working on that.

My IPSC minor load in 9mm is 4.0 of WW 231 and a 130gr cast bullet. About 1000fps out of a 4 in S&W 5906.
