CHELSEA — Charles Dicino, 82, grabbed a bolt-action rifle and shot two people early this morning who he claims were trying to break into his home in Revere, according to the man's attorney.

Police arrested Dicino, a Korean War veteran, following the early-morning incident and charged him with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a single count of discharging a firearm, according to police.

But his attorney, John Haggerty, said Dicino did nothing wrong and was simply defending himself after the two people, a woman and a man, threw a brick through Dicino's window after first trying unsuccessfully to break into his home.

“This is the victim here an 82-year-old man with no criminal record. He defended life and property,” Haggerty said during Dicino's arraignment in Chelsea District Court.
