Saw another guy talking about waiting for his LTC A, and I realized it has been 7 weeks, and still no sign of my FID? Anyone know what is up? I was told it would take 5 weeks at the most.

I'm going to take a gander and say his age.'

My FID and my dad's LTC A no res took 3 weeks and 6 days from the town of Wakefield

Gotcha. I always forget how young some of the forum is.

Well if that's the case, good for you for stepping up at that age!

Hmm don't know why I would have gotten denied. And yes, I am not 21, so no LTC. I don't know why it wouldn't be okayed. Never been in any trouble with the law, never been to some mental institution. Nothing.

You haven't been officially denied, someone is just dragging their feet. If you'd like, you have the legal option of considering it denied if it has been over 40 days and hire a lawyer to appeal it for you. The system royally sucks, but your best bet is to wait semi-pateiently.

Have you called the PD yet to ask them what's going on?

If I were you Id stop in. One of my buddies waited two months and didnt get any call from the PD (he claims), so he went down there to ask and they had it right on their desk, and he walked out with it

I waited 8 weeks for my LTC, its not uncommon. Sadly there isn't a whole to be done except call or wait. If it drags on much longer you could try contacting your state rep, I think I remember reading about someone here doing that.

If you do not get a License within 40 days from your date of application, you can assume you are denied and go to court.

More info.

I know that you guys have forgotten more about licensing than I will ever know, but mine took over 8 weeks but it came just the same.

Every 2 weeks, after 6 weeks, I stopped by the PD and asked about the status in person. They were very friendly albeit slow...

Unfortunately this wonderful state takes forever to do everything. I was told 4 weeks for my LTC, 6.5 weeks later I picked it up. Keep checking in with the PD.

7 weeks is a lot, but by massachusetts standards thats average. Wouldn't hit the panic button just yet though.

this is some A-hole cop that thinks he is god becasue he can open carry and has a badge.

welcome to the world of gun owning in this rotten state.

FID is a shall issue. If you have nothing against you, then you have to get it. Since you say your record is clean, you will get it as soon as the cops period is over.

disclaimer: not every cop is an A-hole, not every town s**ks and some people only take two weeks. You are just living in the wrong town.

It's summertime... perhaps the MA police Commish is still on vacation :p... the town chief has to ok it, then send it to the Commish, who makes it "official". I would think that where you live, further from Boston, might have made it a faster decision and action. Mine was ok'd in 4 weeks, but is only a Sporting A, due to my police chief.
