550 PARA CORD SURVIVAL BRACELET- HOW TO

Made some bracelets for the kids.

Did a sling for my Beowulf. Used 6 strand core with a double cobra stitch. Used more than 200' of cord. I calculated and then added some extra and started with a 250' piece. Ended up with about 18' of extra in two strands. Pulled each stitch as tight as I could get it. Took me two evenings and some pretty sore hands. In the end, I was about 1/2" short for a good hasty length. Hung the sling from a floor joist with about 200 lbs of sand for about a week. Came off about an inch too long and after working the sling ended up about 1/4" shorter than ideal which makes it a little tight, but with a .50 cal, it's probably a good thing.

What I'd really like to find is a quick release technique. The Cobra Stitch is a nice design, but it does not untie very quickly. I'd love to put a multi-layer wrap over the strap of my emergency bag, but I can't find anything that will hold securely until I want it to unravel and then unravels fast.
