501 CMR 5.00 Firearms Record Keeping Fund and Grant Program

Grant Program Goals: The general purpose of the grant program is: (a) To improve the collection of firearms license and gun dealer application data at the local license authorities; (b) To improve the electronic transfer of firearms licensing data between local licensing authorities, CHSB and the State Police; (c) To improve the capabilities of the CJIS to electronically capture firearms sales and transfer data; (d) To improve the capabilities of firearms licensing authorities and gun dealers to obtain NICS checks; (d) To otherwise improve and upgrade technological capabilities for the efficient processing of firearms licenses.
