To start off with, the article title may be a bit misleading. I don't see anything indicating that the police themselves were unsafe.

However, the administrators disregarded all guidance and let the four into the vestibule. Luckily it appears that they ended up trapped there although it's unclear how the one escaped. Imagine what could have happened if these armed individuals gained access to the student population.

IIRC, these inner security partitions were more than just plain glass. I was on our Town Capital Planning Committee when the School Department requested funds to put these in our schools. The costs were pretty high and supposedly they were designed to prevent unauthorized entry and were bullet-resistant to some degree. I don't recall how much tho.

Something else is going on.

All four suspects are believed to have arrived at the school in a total of three stolen vehicles. Though the suspects attempted to run away, police apprehended three of them. Guns were discovered on two of the suspects. Two of the suspects were sent home on their own recognizance while the investigation continues. One suspect, 16, was taken into custody because he was wanted in an unrelated robbery case.

While I believe very strongly that stupid is meanly distributed, something is CLEARLY wrong. You catch 3 out of 4. 2 are carrying guns and they stole THREE CARS. And you let 2 go home on ROR????
