Two weeks ago I picked up a Model 1916 Spanish Mauser Short Rifle 7X57mm for $1.00, Yes One Whole Dollar. The stock was badly battered and there was a piece missing out of the front part of the stock. The barrel was severely rusted and pitted and the other metal parts were rusted. I refinished and repaired the missing piece on the stock. I was able to trade for a barrel in better shape and changed it out. I cleaned down all the metal parts and re-blued them. I still have to order a cleaning rod for it, and tomorrow I will be applying more Johnson's Paste Wax to the stock. I Don't think it came out too bad.

I had to call my friends dad to ask him how his old 7mm was doing. His was ratty and beat. Only thing he did is have his friend clean and polish the chamber and bore.
Still rough but works.
I casted up some wheel weight lead water dropped with his mold and helped load them on his new to him set up.

We used H4895 with hodgdon guide to reduced loads. Very nice shooters. We managed to get to about 4moa ish at around 1750fps gas checked and lubed.
Looking forward to your range results.

Yes, shoot it. If you're down my way (SE CT) we can load some powder-puff (up to standard loads, too) loads and shoot 100-meters in the backyard. I should have some 174g RN (among others) in my stash.

NICE! If you find any more like that, let me know. I have a Bayonet for a spanish short thats itching for a rifle to be attached to.

There used to be a Cavalry Carbine at M&B Sports in North Stonington and another one at Black Fox G&A in Ashaway, RI. Can't say if they are still available though. Not for a dollar, however.

This what happens when you open coffee cans in the workshop!!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I picked these up from Old Western Scrounger out of West Virginia for $29.95 a piece out of the 5 one receiver was too rusted for my liking and it will be turned in a Long rifle and replace my 1983 in the Museum. All the stocks are cracked or broken but I think I can rebuild a few with parts from others. It is just too hot for this old man to be working in the workshop.

Those are like new if they came from old yankee.... they have a lot of the rotted junk from the bannerman castle days.
