I've gotten the bug of upgrading my 10/22. It was an original "Walmart Special" which has a 22" stainless steel barrel and action(?). It has always been a very accurate rifle and don't think a bull barrel will increase the accuracy. I have replaced the original 5-7 pound trigger with a KIDD 2 pound single stage trigger with their 3/4" magazine release and their bolt buffer. Now I have been looking at an Archangel AAP1022 stock and was wondering what any of you guys that have one might like to give me some input about it or other stocks. I also bought a Bushnell 3-12X40mm rimfire scope with side Parallax adjustment which should be delivered tomorrow.

Magpul without a doubt. I have two for my Steel Challenge guns.

Is this a good price? I'm guessing I will need the cheek riser and maybe something to attach a sling. How much does it weigh? I would like to keep it light. The Archangel weighs 2.3 pounds.

I think the Bell and Carlson Odyssey is (WAY) out of my range. It looks super nice though.

Check out rimfire central. Many options depending on intended use. Put a promag on my son's. Has adjustable cheek riser and butt stock length. Boyd's and Hogue are awesome too.

That is a average price for the MagPul. It is very light. I had to add the high cheekpiece to work with my C-More. but the regular one is fine for iron sights.

curious if your 10/22 retains its accuracy with your new stock...

I will let you know, but it might be a while.

I received my new Bushnell 3-12X40MM RIMFIRE scope today and mounted it on my 10/22 with 1" Weaver rings. It came with a 22 LR and 17 WRM Turrets. It went on very easily.

Boy you guys are giving me a lot of advice and I really appreciate it. Thanks.

When I learn how to add photos I'll do that too. I know how to do it on another chat room, but the administrator won't let me post to it anymore and I like this place and don't want to get banned.

You should also visit Rimfire Central if you haven't already: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php

As said above...check rimfirecentral...I just picked up a magpul x22 but haven't installed it yet...I want to shoot it more and then replace and shoot to check accuracy...still not sure if i want to swap out the barrel...I like having the sights on the barrel with quick detach scope rings

The Magpul stock is pretty innovative. I will fit on a stock or .920 Bull Barrel by flipping over the insert.

I put that exact stock on my son's 10/22. I didn't check your link before I replied above. I also added a bull barrel so make sure you buy the correct stock for you particular barrel. He just got his Rifleman patch with it 2 weeks ago. It's a tack driver and it's more red in real life.

Mine has a stock regular tapered 22" S/S barrel. I called the company and the guy there told me that my barrel will look just fine in that stock. Do they have different stocks for my barrel? Did you have much fitting work to do on yours? Boy you really ruined my day because I had decided to just keep the original wood stock, but after what you said and your picture I told my wife I want one like yours for Fathers day. Maybe in tan though. I wish my son would teach me how to post pictures here. I am 72 and not computer savvy.

have your son teach you how to attach photos from imjur or photobucket or other photo hosting sites.

the sight will have 2 mounting locations, a low mount for 25 yards and I will have to mount it up higher for 100-200 yard plinking

Thanks mac1911. Looks like you will have a lot of fun with yours when you have finished upgrading it.

I had zero fitting to do with that barrel, which i bought from Green Mountain Barrels in VT. Highly recommend. The stock barrel will fit in most, the bull barrel is the one you have to make sure to get the right stock for.

Thanks slap shot I will call them back and ask which one I should get.

all the stocks mentioned are super and work well. as i said in an earlier post, magpul worked for me. i thought it was a great value with a bunch of options for the money. i put together a green mountain 16" with a few kidd extras. liked the stock so much when i did my 18", i bought another. i'm a big guy so the spacers for length of pull was a great feature. i looked at a lot of stocks, it was a hard decision. [grin]

Another option:

http://victorcompanyusa.com/titan-1022.html

Upsides:
Aluminum bedding block + rear tang for free floated barrel (be sure to review rear tang options vs whichever 1022 receiver will be used).
Stiff fiberglass composite plastic.
With a torqued action and tang screws, consistent accuracy when combined with a bunch of Kidd components.
Swivel studs and QD mounts at various locations.
Relatively inexpensive stock for the features.

Downsides:
It is heavy. Could be an issue off-hand over extended periods.
Comes with side QDs but I find them useless when combined with a sling for stabilization. Causes cant. Modified mine with a QD cup somewhere in the middle on the bottom of the hand grip to help stability with a sling.
Comb is low. You'll likely need to install a cheek rest riser if you are using optics. They have an optional kit.
