The valentines are shell mosaics made in wooden shadow boxes. They are associated with the whaling era of the mid-19th century and are each valued in the thousand-dollar range.

"We arrested two guys for the Marguerite's break and there were some phone records," said Westport Detective Sgt. Antonio Cestodio.

Those records took police to a house at 407 Old County Road, across from Westport Middle School, in search of the stolen valentines.

There, police officers said they found evidence of illegal high-capacity magazine transactions which ended up at the Old County Road address.

On Sept. 17, police officers raided the 230 Main Road address.

Cinquini was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a covert weapon, a short-barreled rifle, possession of high-capacity law enforcement restricted gun magazines, transferring or selling illegal high-capacity gun magazines and four counts of having an unsecured firearm, one loaded. He was arraigned at Fall River District Court and posted $5,000 cash bail.

Police said during the search of Cinquini's residence, police found unsecured firearms which included a 9mm loaded Sig Sauer pistol, an AR-15-style short-barreled rifle as well as three other pistols, six revolvers and a shotgun.

Officers also located another short-barreled rifle, which requires a federal permit, as well as two field-tested fully automatic rifles, one of which was an FN PS90 with had three illegal 50-round magazines stamped "Law Enforcement restricted," police said.

Police said Cinquini has a machine gun license, but was not able to possess the short-barreled rifles, and failed to register the fully automatic rifles with the National Firearms Record branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

At one time, police said, Cinquini had an federal firearms license as a gun store owner, but no longer had possession of it.

Cinquini also allegedly had approximately 30 restricted or stamped illegal gun magazines for both AR-15 and AK-47 rifles as well as pistols. Some magazines were also for Glock pistols with a 30-round capacity, used in Massachusetts for law enforcement only.

Police ended up confiscating nearly 300 rifles, pistols and shotguns during the search. One of the unsecured pistols that was loaded was registered to his wife, Ann Cinquini. She too had a firearms license prior to the search warrant.

Police said hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition and about 50 pounds of gunpowder were also seized during the two-day search of that residence. Two military-grade smoke grenades were also located and seized.

The Massachusetts State Police Bomb squad subsequently destroyed the gunpowder and the smoke devices. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also assisted with the identification of numerous unregistered firearms.
