3 Conn. high school track runners say transgender athletes have cost them top finishes. Now, they’re suing.

"We shouldn’t force these young women to be spectators in their own sports."
    By

Dave Collins, Associated Press 8:58 AM

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Three Connecticut girls who have run high school track have filed a federal discrimination complaint saying a statewide policy on transgender athletes has cost them top finishes in races and possibly college scholarships.

The complaint filed Monday with the U.S. Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights was submitted by the conservative Christian law firm Alliance Defending Freedom on behalf of the girls, who are asking for an investigation of the policy and orders that would make competitions fair. The complaint also cites the federal Title IX rules aimed at equal rights in sports for female athletes.

‘‘Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field,’’ said Christiana Holcomb, legal counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom. ‘‘Women fought long and hard to earn the equal athletic opportunities that Title IX provides. Allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports reverses nearly 50 years of advances for women under this law. We shouldn’t force these young women to be spectators in their own sports.’’

...but jamming girls into every available male space is juuust fine. VMI, the Boy Scouts, men's colleges, it's a long list.

You'd have to have a heart of stone not to laugh.

This is what all that extremism ends up causing.

First they want to be equal, they fight, complain to the point they feel "equal".

Now they dont want to be as equal and it is OK to be different/weaker.

The fun part here is you have two groups considered "minorities" or "disadvantaged" going at each other. On one hand you have women, and on the other Transgender. So, if they get this overturned and get the school to not allow Transgenders to compete with women, then the Transgenders will probably sue.

My money is on Transgenders winning.

Also, I cant believe this would cost them scholarships. Any University coach (in a University were sports are segregated) can look at this and filter out the transgender athletes from women. Focus on how fast the women were and make their desicion based on stats.

I'm guessing the transgenders didnt cost them the scholarships, unless they tried to get into an ultra liberal college. In which case, they are better off.

You only get what you ask for. If the liberals want to legitimize transgender this is the kind of fall out you will get. You can't have it both ways. I see the demise of Woman Sports.

Maybe, just maybe, it’ll make people have to think logically, rather than emotionally. I’m kind of rooting for the trans group so that it peels off an amount to vote for the side with more logic. Let’s not forget, there are women’s groups who are emotional enough to vote another way in protest. Example:

Not sure I agree with that. Part of the athlete's resume are the records/awards. If a female athlete doesn't have the winning record/full trophy case because trans athletes are gobbling up the first place finishes she's at a disadvantage in the recruiting process, there are no asterisks for finished first behind the trans athletes. And if college coaches "filter" out the trans athletes and offer scholarships to female athletes with inferior winning records than the trans athletes that invites litigation from the trans athletes.

My money is on the women winning out in the long run, they can out-victim just about anyone.

I agree, if they go by stats and names on a spreadsheet and dont actually scout people.

Good points on the rest. I also thought about women winning in the long run. But I said trans because they are higher up on the "victim" scale. But women can be very persistent.

Way back in the 70s when I played Pop Warner football we had a girl on the team, briefly. Her parents insisted that she was just as tough as any boy and they were going to sue if she wasn't allowed to play. Well, she played. In the first scrimmage game with the next town over she went up for a pass and was leveled by the same huge guy who had been leveling our receivers every game. She wound up with a broken pelvis and a fractured femur. She was a tough kid but she was in way over her head thanks to her parents. She would have dominated any female sport, but thanks to the injuries she got playing on the boy's team her school athletics were all done.

Come on, you know the answer to that. The one codified into law doesn't stand a chance when you're comparing it to the one codified in feelz...

I think you were right the first time. Straight women, particularly straight white women, are getting pushed down the victim hierarchy. They have outlived their usefulness. The world has moved on to bigger, better victims.

I got in trouble in NC last year.

I asked if the guy who sells eggs was still coming to the farmer’s market.

I was told that 2 out of the 5 farmers who sell eggs at the farmer’s market are women.

I told her/him that “guy” was not gender specific and that I didn’t assume gender.

It’s pretty much over for the feminists.

For the three real girls, this is the first step away from the dark side and toward conservatism.

Exactly, nearly every woman I've ever known treats life like it's a buffet. They only want the good bits when it goes their way, the instant it doesn't they do a 180.

Liberals always bitch about how the American education system is not producing enough scientific literacy all while forcing us to have a weekly national conversation asking whether or not gender has a biological basis.

It's always hysterical watching liberals try to argue for both feminism and tranny rights at the same time [rofl]

The argument is basically I support women's rights... except sometimes the women are men who beat women at women's sports... but those men are women so I guess it's ok... but it means that women who are men are better at sports than women who are women... but men who are women are not very good at sports at all... DOES. NOT. COMPUTE. This shit sends democrats into a frenzy, it's hilarious [rofl]
