2018 / 2019 Winter Warrior Postal Match

1917 M1911
1918 M17 Colt DA45
1944 Walther P38
1985 Walther P1 Bundeswehr
1917 Erfurt P08 Luger
1943 S/W Victory
1939 Walther PPk - pushing it
1915 M08 Colt .380
1920 M03 Colt .32 - pushing it
1910 M08 Colt .25 - don’t make me laugh

I could probably outshoot all of them with my bow, but my shoulders aren’t up to it any more.

Don’t think my 1937 Colt Detective or 1975 M66 S/W fit in

OK, since I got to bitch about the few turds on the other forum and somehow summoned Dakar652 via the same post, I'm game.

Service pistol or 'close enough' clones, any era. Heck, even cap and ball Army / Navy revolver replicas are OK.
In the spirit of longer distance marksmanship, official target will be the NRA B-8 shot at 25 yards, slow fire, any position.
One entry to the random drawing per target submitted. Highest score gets bragging rights until next winter.

T and others: There are downloadable pdf's available for the B-8. I'll post a link when I get around to it.

I think I'll do a Luger vs. 1911 shoot-out and a Army vs. Navy black powder pistol shoot out. For laughs my 1903 Colt, which at 25 yards I can literally throw more accurately than shoot. Might the lowest legit score.
well there it is then....maybe a good excuse to get rid of some of this 7.62x25!

How many bullets?

T

10 shots. If you use more bullets to get 10 on paper, we won't know. [smile] I think it would take 100 shots from my 1903 Colt to get 10 on paper, LOL.

I figured you would have a bunch of interesting milsurp pistols.

Target 1 - 67 Target 2 - 85

Well i’ll be damned if that wasn’t meant to be...it snowed for me on the way to the range from work! How the hell it snowed when it was supposedly 38 degrees out is beyond me, but it felt colder than that?

I got set up in a flash so I could beat the clock (range closes officially at sunset)

First shot, my target fell off the stand so I had to adjust a little. The black was still the same size though, so I really can’t use that as an excuse. All my shots ended up going pretty well to the right. This was more like rapid fire as Dusk was rapidly approaching.

Second string was a little better with a slightly different hold. It was officially 4 minutes past sunset when I started shooting, so I really had to boogie! Instead, I got some booger snots on my rifle because my nose is running so bad today. TMI?

I think I counted an 85 for that one, so not off to a great start, but many more rifles to go and a LOOOONG COOOOOLD winter ahead!

EDIT: ALSO...I already won the random drawing from a few years ago's Garand match, so I too am only going for bragging rights this time around!

That little target at 75 feet, 8.5x11"? The RI qualification target was 28" across.

I offer this.... anything outside the repair center 8x11 target is scored as a 5? We used to do this at local fun shoot because the target backers where a mess

This reminds me to print up a few more while I'm still at the office as I'm off tomorrow. I think I've got two or three, but I'll print up a few more of the linked ones to have in the range bag.

That's a good way to do it. Good with that, because it means I can score a 50 with my 1903 Colt. [laugh]

38? Did you go to the range in shorts? I had colder nights in a tent up at Camp Ethan Allen in September! Taking advantage of global warming, are we?

LOL, congrats on getting out there and putting some nice holes in the SR-1. I bet WPRC still had some snow piled somewhere in the parking lot, so that qualifies as winter weather.

Well, conditions were hardly fair for pistol today. 44F, very windy, and strong gusts. The target was held on a line with a binder clamp. The wind was strong enough to flip my target horizontal to the ground most of the time, so I was rapid fire snap shooting when the target went vertical...BANG.......BANGBANGBANG.....BANGBANG. Used the new NATO 9mm which I was pleased with, and the 1985 Walther P1 Bundeswehr.

No idea on how to score these. Looks like 6 hits on the first and 9 on the second. Used a third target to practice on.

If we're using mac's suggestion of 5s on ones outside the 8-ring, looks like:
Left = 60 / 0x
Right = 59 / 1x

That's a good way to do it. Good with that, because it means I can score a 50 with my 1903 Colt. [laugh]
We used to have a friendly cmp service pistol match used the B8 and SR-1 repair centers at 25 yards. We shot all stages with what ever we had in the hut. B8 or SR1 they are “close enough” . We applied all other shots 5s to end the huffing and puffing over the make shift method of scoring we tried. Then basically it was to the point where unless you got all your shots inside the 8 you where not going to “win” anyway.
The shooter who shot the most 5s bought coffee. This was way back when coffee was .55 cents for a large.
Was fun.

So a NRA 50 at 50 is kosher?

t
Wont be any easier. 50 yard bull is 16 moa. 25 yard bull is 21moa?
Where you thinking 50' target thats a 17moa bull out to the 7 ring. Statistical the 25 yard slow fire target will be easier to score higher on.

They are 50 foot targets. That's what I normally shoot at.

t
B-2 target at 50' bull out to 7ring down side no X ring, you can score down to 4s and misses. Bring it up with the match director mountain. Directors have the power to add, remove and define rules when ever they want. ;)

Wait so this has morphed into a pistol competition?
I must warn y’all. That is my passion.
It's more of a target game with service/surplus firearms now. I'm willing to add bayonet throwing !
Come on cold weather time to post some scores.
