They lost. We're on to next year. Stop going over it. Mistakes were made. Clearly the better team won.

Let me start it off...

Edelman should be GTG well rested and healthy!

We need Edelman & hopefully a handful of consistent decent defensive players & also hopefully with the new DC they'll have a "break your back & spirit" defense instead of that borderline "bend but don't break" defense

Kraft & Belichick should be following the same path as the Broncos of a few years ago. Build that defense into a monster that gives QB's & backfields nightmares & TB12 will handle his end better than Peyton did. Maybe get to ride off into the sunset same way Manning did

As long as Brady plays ok (doesn't need another MVP season, just a good one), we keep most of our key offensive pieces, and we at least start rebuilding the D, I don't see how we're not favorites to come out of the AFC again next year. Those scenarios are not that unlikely. Patricia is overrated and McDaniels might even stay. Even if they leave, Belichek is the real asset so its not as huge a loss as people are making it out to be. He'll plug in the next guy who gets it and we move on. Hope they keep Scarnecchia though.

The NFC will be stacked, don't think we'll be better than the top 3 teams there but we don't need to worry about that until the SB anyway. Whose better right now in the AFC? It was a joke getting the the SB this year even with this trash defense. Unless teams like KC, Pittsburgh, or Oakland get significantly better, it will be another slow start but ultimately joke of a 12 win regular season, some drama up till the AFC championship game, and we're right back to where we were this year with a tight AFC CG and who knows from there on.

As every previous year with a 1 year younger Brady, this was our best shot at another one before he's done, but its really not gonna implode like everyone thinks.

p.s. Benching Butler for anything short of a violent felony is absolutely ridiculous. He only makes 2 key stops on Jeffrey that were blown by Rowe (or allows Gilmore to be on Jeffrey earlier) and its a whole different game. Probably win by a TD with minimal nail biting. Hope they grill Bill to his grave over that BS. I bet internally its some stupid team policy violation too which is downright retarded.

Right now, everyone who doesn't live in New England knows that Brady lost his last Super Bowl, and has the image of him dropping a pass as an uncovered receiver, and the sack-fumble, despite his 500+ yards. Peyton was lucky, Brady is greedy, should have retired after last year's miracle.

This, and McDaniels getting too cute in his last game.

Not sure if the Pats get back to the big game next year. But definitely agree with the post about the D. Make lots o changes on the D. Bring in some animals that can decimate any O-line. If not too many changes to the O-line I think they are all set there if they can keep most together and obviously healthy. If Gronk retires that will be a tough role to fill.

But these are just my armchair suggestions....lol

2-3 plays is all it takes to swing momentum. Our defense sucked too. I guess that punt return flea Flicker isnt McD's fault.

Must revamp D. Must have deeper bench. They have 0 swagger.

All good lessons learned for next year. I think we need a brick wall defense now. It's nice the offense can score a lot of points but that doesn't always help. It will be interesting to see if this little rift and the loss how it affects things going forward. Say Brady plays two more years. They will need a serious prospect to bring in under him for the next two or so to ensure a decent transition at that position.

Brady threw behind over half his receivers in the first half. If only a few of those passes had connected their field position would have been much more beneficial.
The Pats could NOT hold back the running game of the Eagles. Only a couple of times did they get caught for short yardage. Eagles converted 10 of 16 third downs. The Pats did only 5 for 10. The one stat that always seems to be overlooked is possession. The Eagles had the ball for 34 mins. The Pats 25. Give a team the ball for lots of time and they'll score on you. My prediction is that even though he says he'll be back, Brady will once again look seriously at this comittment to the game and, like so many other terrific and talented players like Tiki Barber, will just not be motivated to begin 'getting into shape' beginning in May for the coming year. There's just nothing left for him to prove, not with a young family to come home to. Just my 2 cents.

505 yds of passing and 33 points. Anyone talking about Brady even remotely being a problem or somehow losing his touch is a mental patient. The defense lost that game, end of story.
This... anyone who thinks that Brady had anything to do with them losing is delusional and probably should seek serious psychiatric help.

And anyone of those people who weren't blind and actually watched the game is far more likely to remember the seemingly 900 3rd down conversions by the eagles during the game where the pats defense kept slipping off the eagles players like they were greased up with the crisco from the light poles in philly... the pats defense leaked like a sieve the entire game outside of like a handful of snaps.

it will be interesting to see the moves made in the off season with regard to age and free agency.

They definitely need to invest heavily in the D this coming year. A better D would have likely meant that the parade would be in Boston later this week.

The 3rd down conversions (and 4th down conversions) KILLED that Pats and cost them the game

I heard that Butler cleaned out his locker before the team went to Minneapolis. Which is a big no no. Also came back 2 to 3 times late after curfew. While in Minneapolis.

I also think one hand washed the other... I don't think they would have tried going on 4th later in the game if the defense had been a little stiffer, but by the time that stuff was coming out, they knew they literally had a 50/50 chance to make another 1st down given the generally awful defense.

Heading for greener pastures
The biggest indictment of the Pats D was that the 33 points the offense scored is the record high for a losing team. So yep, every other team that ever scored 33 points or more in the SB won the game. Should have been 37 points with better holds on the kicking game on top of that.
