Flipped the 1936 RC S/42 Mauser K98k (I didn't need two Obendorfs), and used the proceeds towards this one. 1937 BSW (Berlin-Suhler-Waffen), rarest of all makers with only 60,000 pieces from 1936-1939 when BSW was folded into Gustloffwerke. Next Lowest is Erma at 250,000 from 1935-1941.

By some miracle the stock is also BSW; e/4, as are a couple of other pieces. Added capture screws from my stash and an Israeli sling. So this is loaner #6 for my reenactment group. The crate I made last month has room for 2 more. Will be chasing down 3 more makers to complete the set of 10; Erma, DOU, and Steyr.

My humble K98 collection is up to 7 now and they can all fit in the wall rack. I put the Americans in the gun safe.

I think someone tried to 'restore' this one with BSW parts. Upon closer inspection, the follower, rear sight base and slide, and the ejector box are also e/4 - BSW. That's too many to be chance. The also stock lacks the typical Russian stamped serial number in the wood as well.

Bore cleaned up well. Should be a great shooter.

I don't think the Russians pulled those parts. No shellac and no number stamp on the stock sounds like it was swapped stateside. Good stocks aren't cheap anymore andeven less so with that maker.

Jamie, I used to have 20, but life got in the way; disability, my wife lost her job, and then I had my heart attack. Those were collector pieces, Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, etc. These are mixmasters, early imports, and RCs for my WW2 unit to use. I’ve 7 now and will stop after I reach the 10 different manufacturers.

Such a beautiful day I had to make the effort to go to the range. 50F, sunny, breezy. Still snow on the ground on the side of the range....so this counts as a winter shoot.[smile]

Took the '55 Pontiac so it had the makings of a perfect day, save the ammo failed. Had 3 boxes of 12/1953 Yugo M49 ball, and a full 18/45 were outright duds. Half of the remaining 17 were double taps; don't think I got off 2 consecutive shots save once or twice. 100 yards, but the bottom rope of the target had been shot away so my target was swinging in the breeze. Other than that, it has a good+ bore and despite a bent bayonet lug touching the barrel, I shot well once I figured out how low I had to aim (bottom of target cardboard).
