Support is mounting for a lawsuit that challenges New Jersey's tight restrictions on handgun ownership and its high standard of "justifiable need" for carrying a weapon outside the home.

Nineteen states as well as the powerful National Rifle Association have joined the case's plaintiff John Drake, who in his lawsuit claims he was denied a permit following a thwarted robbery attempt on his Sussex County business.

The lawsuit strikes me eerily similar to a recent win by Comm2a in the suit: Hill v. New Bedford Police

Drake is very much like the recently decided Peruta, Richards, and Baker decisions out of the Ninth. There is a clear split among the federal Circuit Courts and this issue is prime for SCOTUS to decide. The petition for certiorari is pending before the Court. If they take the case, a win is going to have huge implications for any "may issue" states.

Unfortunately this will take years and years in the Court system just what the anti s want

It is at the Supreme Court. If they grant cert., then they will likely hear it in the fall and render an opinion in the spring. The years and years part started back in 2012.

As bad as we have it in MA, the "may" issue states and cities that are non issue like DC, NYC, NJ, et al will have massive changes.
