UPDATE - A 31 year old has turned himself in. It appears he's an accomplice and foxnews is reporting he has a pretty bad record of priors.

Apparently robbery was the motive. It's a good thing the 4 of them obeyed their assailent like law enforcement tells us or it might have turned out bad for them.

3 dead one severely wounded. Oh yea, it was a gun-free-zone, yea I'm shocked too.

NEWARK, N.J. — DEVELOPING STORY: Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in the killings of three college students in a schoolyard, shootings considered jarring even in a city used to violence, a law enforcement official said Thursday.

The teen was arrested Wednesday night, said Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Four friends, ages 18 to 20, were shot while hanging out in a school yard Saturday night. Authorities have said robbery appeared to be the motive.

Three of the victims — Terrance Aeriel, 18, Dashon Harvey, 20; and Iofemi Hightower, 20 — were forced to kneel against a wall and were shot at close range. The fourth, 19-year-old Natasha Aeriel, Terrance Aeriel's sister, survived a wound to her head and is hospitalized.

Despite being under sedation for periods, Natasha Aeriel has been providing authorities with information about the shootings, Mayor Cory A. Booker said.

The killings brought unwanted publicity to the city, which has struggled for years with violent crime. Residents and law enforcement organizations have donated $150,000 to aid the victims' families and to a reward fund.

"This is a defining moment for our city. The crime is not going to define Newark but our response to it," Booker said Thursday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

All four victims were planning to attend Delaware State University this fall. Instead, three were to be buried Saturday in separate services.

It's a good thing they made that school a gun free zone, children could have been hurt or even murdered. Oh wait...

Nevermind. I guess the badguy didn't see the signs. The good thing is this will make them come after law abiding gun owners.

Can't go after the criminals, after all they are victims of their harsh conservative environment.

No one will learn from this except for the goblins. They'll learn that it's open season on our schools' campuses.

Jose Carranza, 28, of Newark, surrendered with his lawyer at midday Thursday, Mayor Cory A. Booker said. The suspect insisted on surrendering to the mayor after learning he was wanted for murder.

They are just here to execute the people that we don't want....

Nevermind.

They are up to 5 suspects now and apparently Carranza is a Peruvian illegal and has been in custody at least twice before(once for rape of a child) and was never deported. Two of the others are brothers that are "Nicaraguan Nationals" and are suspected to have fled the area.

So keep your eyes open these creeps could be coming to a neighborhood near you.

SHOCKER!!!! [shocked]

It's amazing how the media outlets never mentioned his legality when the story originally broke. [thinking]

Apparently robbery was the motive.

Robbery was not the motive. At this point they have no idea why the crime was committed. Current thinking is it might have been a gang motive of some sort. Not unheard of in Newark. It could have been something as simple as one of looking the wrong way at one of the killers.

I don't miss working down there at all.
