Its not on the news yet but it should be by 10, but i heard at lunch officers had to subdue a 14 year old male student in a new hampshire elementary school for having a loaded .32 pistol in his waistband this morning. [shock]

Perhaps yet another parent who doesnt now how to stow his weapons safely..
I guess there were no threats made, he was just seen with it and administrators called police who took him into custody in a full classroom (not smart in my opinion). he was rumored to be combative when approached and they had to take him by force. /

+1 they could have told him his mother was on the phone and grabbed him when he walked out the classroom door.

Hopefully a kneejerk reaction will NOT insue.

But they didn't know the situation. Let's say the kid just popped both his parents and went to school with the intent of causing more harm. If he hears that one of his parents is calling it could set him off. He could think one of them lived and it could set him into defence mode.

Can't randomly call an assembly so don't say it. Last thing the kid needs is a big room full of targets.

It's also really hard to wait on something like that because you never know when he is going to snap. So waiting for after class is out of the question as well.

One theory was he was trying to protect himself from a gang........

...

Not a good idea if he was up to something. He'd now be on full alert and liable to start getting jumpy.

If this is indeed the case i can somewhat sympathise..
i went to middle school in Lynn, and i was one of about 7 white students at the time, and i can tell you all you need to know about gang violence and racism in a school situation.
in on one of the many, many, "jumpings" i endured during my time in the lynn public schools I had my jaw dislocated after getting my head kicked in by a gang of white people haters. i went to the office and they sent me back to class...no nurse, no go home , no we'll deal with this problem...go back to class.. [shock]
to this day my jaw makes a clicking sounds when i eat and i get terrible headaches.
That was the last straw for me, i had been beaten and kicked in the head enough times that if no one was going to do anything about it I was. Your trapped, your family says you have to go or else they will kick you out of the house, and when you do go your assaulted unmercifully becuase of the color of your skin and the school officials wont raise a finger to deal with it....from that day on i carried a 12" bowie knife in my boot with the full conviction and intention of stabbing the next person who ever so unjustly laid another hand on me again without provocation..
If i had access to a gun , i probobly would have gone to school with that instead.
I dont know how bad new hampshires gang problems have gotten over the last 15 years or so, but i would imagine if they are anything like what i faced all those years ago i can definetly sympathise.
at 14-15 you arent capable of working the problem thru and a decision like his if based on the same factors can seem perfectly logical at the time in such an unmatured mind..
thankfully for me no one ever caught me, and i was never forced to defend myself with lethal force. I would have been branded a criminal even though i was only defending myself.

They started this story on Ch 5 news, and the picture in the tag screen was a big ole Glock. Then they talk about a man with a .32. Most people don't know the difference between a .32 and a .45. They just see a scary black gun and think that's what he's carrying.

Oh well.

And I feel for you SnakeEye, I grew up in New Orleans Schools. I was in a Public School for a bit, but my mom freaked out and put me in a private school. But it wasn't much better. We did have the best Football Team in the State. But there was racial riots all the time. So I know what you're talking about. I didn't get into too many fights. But I was in a few, and the worst that I ended up with was a busted nose. So it wasn't that bad. I busted it worse playing baseball. But it doesn't mean that it was fun.

good times eh! lol :D
back then i was long haired, and a waifish 105 lbs soaking wet holding a brick.
now im 5' 11", 235lbs, with a copius amount of Uechi Ryu and Aikido under my belt. I would love to go back in time knowing what i know now.
My children will be put into martial arts while their still fetus's (or is that feti :) ) ,and if I can afford it will never have to endure the inside of a public school.
in retrospect though, i wouldnt change a thing, it made me who i am.

I saw the gun on the news. It was a Derringer. Not nearly as ferocious as a Glock. But if it was one of the parents' guns they should be flogged...
