12/19/17 MA Legistraitors Hearing on S.2063

Testimony from Jim Wallace was very effective at the hearing. Based on the questions asked, the committee is clearly not supportive of this proposal although they did not say so specifically.

Let's keep being watchful and participate whenever there is any attempt to create unjust and meaningless legislation that will infringe upon our rights.

Thanks to all that made an appearance or called their state Congress rep to voice an opinion against S. 2063.

Were any decisions made? Any announcements? Did anyone speak to Chairman Moore? What is the actual outcome of this hearing?

(I suppose it is the same as ever, when they just wait until the last days of anything in the hot summer months, and something gets crammed through. For once, can OUR SIDE be the ones using this tactic?)

There are no decisions to be made at public hearings. The members of the Public Safety committee hear testimony and collect written testimony from anyone who wants to submit it (which is another option for us). When they recess, they meet and decide which bills they are going to forward/recommend for a vote on the floor.

That's why it is a long-term effort, and why GOAL and the NRA rep that testified are important. They can not miss any meeting and oftentimes Jim Wallace is in the State House when he hears about goings-on and has to hustle over to provide a voice. In every sense, it is a marathon and not a sprint. That's why we need people to show up regularly. The only way to do this is by sharing the responsibility and supporting GOAL, NRA, etc. at the same time.

Well-said, and excellent work by Jim Wallace, GOAL, NRA rep, and everyone who attended and is calling and submitting comments.
