Saw this being advertised tonight. Never heard of this before, but it looks like a pretty cool event. It's at someplace called the Collins Foundation in Stow. According to the advertisement there will be WWII aircraft, artillery, tanks, troops, etc participating in a reenactment of Allied forces trying to take a German controlled airfield.

    Here's the web site.

Stow, not Stowe RR1.[wink] The folks that founded Stowe, VT were actually from Stow, MA. They added the "e" to keep things different.

This event is happening October 12-13. 2013.
Is is well worth attending. If you have an interest in WWII Weapons, or history this event is well done. Aircraft, tanks, the battle reenactment. Really cool.

Worth the price of admission - it's by the carload, IIRC, so fill the seats with your kids' friends.

I plan on being there on Saturday for the first show. I missed the Veteran's roundtable last year.

It is a great event but a little expensive for a big family. In fact my avatar is from last year. I was told by the kraut that the Stug (g?) was in "Saving Private Ryan." I was a little upset by all the HRA M1s I saw :)

I used to do WWII reenacting when I lived in Southern California. It was an absolute blast and I got to play with some of the coolest toys around! We used to host several Living History weekends and it was so much fun teaching the public about WWII, its history and all of the weapons used. We once had a desert battle (non-public event) that ended up with several state police helicopters swooping in on us. Apparently one of the Sherman tanks got a little too close to I-5 (major highway in So Cal) and spooked a bunch of liberals that thought we had just been invaded. The state police ended up hanging out for quite awhile checking out all of our toys, uniforms and various equipment.

looks like i am going afterall. The wife wants to give me a special aniversery present and take me. Question, how is the sound in viewing area? She is 7 months pregnate and worried about the shock waves (same reason she doesnt go to the range with me anymore). figured gun fire would be far enough away to not be a problem but did i see something about 88's being used?

The Collings Foundation does great work. They're also responsible for the Wings of Freedom Tours, which include the B-17, B-24, and P-51 that leapfrog Massachusetts municipal airports in September. Few things more amazing than watching a Liberator take off. Makes you feel like youre in the English countryside in 1944.

I might be there with the kids... Been trying to go for three years now and it hasn't lined up yet. Gotta figure out if I can cover the charge (it was a tight paycheck) and see if they'll be tolerable tomorrow.

Went two years ago, it was awesome. Make sure you go early enough to check out both encampments prior to the show.
