OK it's been a while since I offered one of these hypothetical buying scenarios. The assignment is to buy two firearms; a handgun and a long gun for all around use, target, and personal defense. They may be the same caliber or different. You only have $1000 to spend so choose wisely. Gunshop prices may be used rather than MSRP. Interchangable barrels are acceptable but must be included in the cost calculation. Have fun and be creative.

I'm going to start things off with a Sig P226 9mm and a Ruger 10/22. Conservative but reliable choices, both.

For the rifle, how about one of the T/C switch barrel jobbies? Unlimited calibers/gauges/blackpowder.

For the handgun, a used S&W 686.
