Given the release of the new rulebook, this could be interesting.

Anyhow, copy/pasted from my email this morning:


IDPA SAFETY OFFICER CLASS

Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York​

An IDPA Safety Officer class will be offered beginning on Monday March 28th.

The classroom requirement will be offered in two parts conducted on line via Zoom using the following schedule. You must complete both part A and part B using any of the dates offered.

On line class schedule:

Part A: 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Monday, March 28, 2022

Part B: 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2022



Part A: 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Wednesday, April 6, 2022

Part B: 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Wednesday, April 13, 2022



Part A: 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2022

Part B: 7:00PM to 9:00PM, Thursday, May 19, 2022



Part C will be hands on at the range.

The hands on session will be conducted later in April or May, and will be offered at multiple clubs depending on class turnout. Students will be required to complete all three sessions (A, B, C) to be eligible to become a safety officer.

SO candidates will need to take the IDPA Safety Officer exam with a minimum score of 70%, IDPA members applying to take the IDPA Safety Officer Class should also meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered:

Minimum 21 years of age and be able to lawfully possess a firearm under the laws of your country of residence.

Be a current IDPA member in good standing for at least six months, and never had membership revoked

Have shot at least six IDPA matches, at the club or sanctioned level

Possess a basic knowledge of the IDPA rulebook

Be sponsored by an IDPA-affiliated club representative that can confirm the applicant’s ability to safely handle a firearm and who is willing and able to provide designated mentor SOs committed to training the graduate SO
