  1. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

No idea. But having just tonight shot a bunch of reloads in PPU and Starline brass in my Model 69, the PPU brass was harder to eject, even when the load was lighter. I believe it's because the case mouth is thinner and softer, so the pressure fire forms it tightly to the chamber.
  2. NRA’s Cleans House/downward spiral, Post 421 Wayne gets 57% raise

Isn't it obvious? LaPierre is a squatter. He and his cronies are occupying the NRA, bleeding every last dollar they can from it, because they care about nothing but themselves. Every time they try to convince me otherwise, it turns out something they've done proves it was all a lie, not that...
  3. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

Or maybe the cases differ in thickness. They seem to differ in length, at least. I loaded up some 240 grain MBC TCFPs in PPU cases the other day, and, while they seated really easily, when I placed the bullets in them, there was a good solid stop there. I didn't feel like I could have pressed...
  4. Democrats 2020 Megathread - There can be only one!

They’ve driven themselves insane. It's like an infectious disease that each of them eventually succumbs to. Trump the businessman already existed, but they created Trump the presidential candidate. They called him forth with their insanity. Trump makes them angry, yes, but the insanity...
  5. USPS envelope went to Hawaii instead of Missouri?

I do not know why, but I have had more than one mishap with that service. It will get there faster and more reliably if you put an envelope inside an otherwise empty box.
  6. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

They're always between 0.356" and 0.357". Call it 0.3565". Like I've said before, I suspect the good folks at Zero are providing the value-added service of pressing a cannelure into 125gr Hornady HAP bullets which are nominally 0.356" in diameter. I've thought about buying a machine myself...
  7. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

Interesting. I use Hornady dies, generally. I also have a RCBS cowboy dies for 357M, but I rarely use the cowboy resizing die, just the flaring die. I'll have to pay more attention with the PPU .357M cases when I reload those. I don't remember anything like that happening with them. It's...
  8. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

Could also be a difference between our resizing dies. I might have observed it to be on the thin side. I'm having trouble remembering. BTW, what was the issue you had with PPU .357M brass?
  9. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

FWIW, I reload PPU 44 magnum brass with 240 grain .430" (Missouri Bullet and Hornady XTP) and .431" diameter (Zero JSP) bullets without issues.
  10. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

I once bought a case of PMC 44 special and couldn't find a use for it because it had piss poor accuracy out of all my 44's owing, as far as I could tell, from imprecise charges, or a terribly inconsistent powder. Can't remember how many rounds I had left, but one day I got industrious and...
  11. Ben Shapiro: Right-wing hero or opportunistic zero?

Neither. Ben's just this guy, you know? He's a good debater. He's got his own opinions. He's not a "team player". If you are team-oriented and not very good at thinking about things in a rational, detached way, you'll probably end up hating him sooner or later for being a "traitor" as soon...
  12. Thoughts on PPU .44 Mag?

I've shot several boxes of 240 gr PPU JHP in 44 magnum. Yeah, they were very hot. Before I shot those, I think 44 magnum Leverevolution was the hottest factory 44 magnum I'd come across. Ironically, it was the first 44 magnum I'd ever shot out of a model 629. Most of what I bought, however...
  13. Officer breaks law, kills child, No Charges

Personally, I'm just reacting to the idea that it is some kind of simple open-and-shut court case. In Michigan what I'm reading is that excessive speed is not necessarily reckless driving (a felony in this case) in the legal sense, so that requires some argumentation about willful or wanton...
  14. Officer breaks law, kills child, No Charges

I don't get the impression that under Michigan law, excessive speeding is ipso facto proof of willful and wanton disregard. As regards 257.601d, the moving violation has to be the "proximate cause". That doesn't mean that the collision was the proximate cause, rather the speeding itself. You...
  15. Officer breaks law, kills child, No Charges

So you're arguing that they should give him a speeding ticket? If so, I agree. You've made your case for it. But I thought you were complaining that he hadn't been brought up on charges for reckless driving, a charge which requires that you prove "willful or wanton disregard for the safety...
  16. Officer breaks law, kills child, No Charges

You're probably right, but if this is about what should happen, I'm going to say that nobody should be charged in a case like that. The "but for" condition on the officer's errors is impossible to prove because getting hit at 30-35 mph in that situation is quite probably just as fatal, and the...
  17. GOAL ALERT

Uggh. I prefer to keep a 100 yard Linsky-free buffer if I can help it. Do you really think we could change his mind about anything?
  18. Skinner peep sight for Henry big boy 357 question

I'm guessing the one that fits on a Marlin 336 would work on a Henry 30-30 or 45-70 lever, but I don't think the Big Boy screw spacing is the same. Pretty sure it's not, or else I'd have leveraged that fact when I was making a low pic rail for mine to mount a red dot. I looked but couldn't...
  19. Skinner peep sight for Henry big boy 357 question

An alternative receiver sight that I haven't tried, and which is less likely to require a new front sight, is the Ranger Point Precision receiver sight. I like the Skinner Express receiver sights (which I've installed on 4 different Henry Big Boys), but I change the front sights, anyway, and I...
