Trailboss with a lead 200gr cast bullet. Lubed and gas checked. Next up is trying to powdercoat them.
Sight goes at the 300m? setting to get close to zero.
Tried 4895 and had squibs and hangfires. I have plenty of trailboss so I will just use that.
loaded 500 45 ACP jacketed 230gr RN with HP38 and with S&B Large pistol primers. Found out that some brass is tight with these primers. CBC, Herters, a couple others. Really messed with the rythm of loading. Going to try CCI LPP for the next few hundred and see if it was just the primers...
Loaded 150 44mag with 240gr lswc. Cast, lubed, sized and gas checked by me. Loaded over 7.0 grains of Universal and another set at 10g Universal. Hope to try them out tomorrow
They are a little frosty which I now understand means I had the mold too hot. Makes sense since the spruce puddle...
Just did the same and tested it. 314299 with gas check and lube. Seated right so that the last lube line is just covered as I am trying to keep the GC in the case neck. Trailboss.
Loaded ten just to see how the cases look afterward. Worked really well. Now to go back and work on...
Crimped millitary cases can be a pita to get a new primer seated. I ended up culling all of mine since 9mm cases are easy enough to get free. You could swage the crimp out but for cheap cases the time invested was not worth it to me.
Anyone have good experience with them?
How about in 7.7 Arisaka?
Looking for some input as I just loaded a few and think I may have issues. Not going into detail yet as my sample size is too small.
I loaded about 130 rds of 45, 230gr pulls over 5.1gr HP-38 when I realized I may have double charged ONE case. Put them all aside and started using my kinetic puller. Broke puller at about 30 rounds pulled.... ugh. Stupid mistake as I tried changing how I handle the brass and bullet into...
Working on a 7.7 Arisaka load using a .314 200gr lead gas checked bullet. Sized and lubed a few .312 and a few .314. Using a LAM 2 for sizing and lubing.
Running trail boss behind them at first and then a lighter load of possibly H335 or IMR 4895 ( two powders I have on hand ). Looking...
New box of primers opened? New can of powder? I would assume that if he bought a few years ago and just bought "the exact same" and was close to max he may be seeing over pressure symptoms more from that than anything else. If they were older reloads with the same exact components he needs...
Although I missed this year I am planning on trying to powder coat some 9mm and working towards a usable 7.7 arisaka load. Factory ammo is expensive so the cheaper I can get the 7.7 the better.
I have ingots but need to find a used turkey fryer and pot to melt down a few buckets of WW.
Check AR15.com equipment exchange for brass selling prices. I paid $90 for 3k if 9mm delivered a while ago. Brass goes cheaper than you think if you want to just sell it and not sit on it for a bit.
Can someone bring a couple 9mm molds? I would like to work on a RN lead bullet load for my M11 that doesn't lead up the barrel.
I tried commercial lead and the barrel got horribly leaded up after one mag.
I figure with a couple different types of 9mm bullets I can also work on a proper...
Looking for a gas checked bullet to use in a 7.7 arisaka. Anyone have a mold in .312 possibly?
I have a bunch of ww which I would love to be able to smelt down to ingots.
I am also interested. I can help out as needed, not a lot of knowledge but I figure someone has to lug around the heavy stuff....
My issue is having a bunch of ww but no pot or burner to smelt them in. I need to start with a gas checked bullet for the 7.7 arisaka.
I agree with Len, THIS is the problem I see repeated by some FDs. They read and then think that the explosive magazine requirement ( in a separate section of the CMR) is for residential smokeless powder / primer storage. If I am correct and have read 13.11,4,f correctly the ONLY requirement...
