  1. NH: Need for preemption to stop towns from enacting local firearms bans

The bill was fine in the House version. We have a literal statement from the senator who removed 'use' as to why and it's explicitly not a good thing. I don't think she's right, legally, that removing "use" would "allow" local restrictions on use, because there's no enabling statute for that...

Oh, there's quite a few. This is a position piece setting the mood. Timing interesting. https://www.concordmonitor.com/My-Turn-Independent-party-44634210
  5. One less crazy lib in the NH House

Yeah, there's some kind of (externally organized, I'd guess) mini-movement among the NH House Ds that has them either announcing their move to independent status, or that they're stepping down. It's too sudden and with affiliated reps to be purely organic, seems to me. Anyhow, I guess we watch...
  6. NY banning guns everywhere

Well, I don't think this case gets to that. Once they address "may issue" generally, the Court can (if a case with enough split among the circuits is brought) address whether P&A applies (a very separate question, IMO). In very lay terms, the P&A clause more or less prohibits a state from...
  7. NY banning guns everywhere

It's all very reminiscent of the convolutions Chicago went through after McDonald and subsequent rulings. Those games didn't work out for IL or Chicago, and we'll have to stay tuned to see what happens for NY/NYC. I expect it will be a long, drawn-out process. We haven't even gotten to the P&A...

  9. NH: Need for preemption to stop towns from enacting local firearms bans

No it will allow someone to sue. They could go to court and get an injunction today, violation of which would carry penalties. The law today has the same set of words re: what firearms-related areas are preempted (plus 'use'). Statutory teeth are a nice-to-have we've been looking for, for years...
  10. NH: Need for preemption to stop towns from enacting local firearms bans

Right. Use is stated in the current RSA's section on preemption. Removing "use" from HB307 as the senate version does removes it from the existing section and suggests that the otherwise-preempted authority doesn't apply to firearm 'use' restrictions (strictly legally, it doesn't grant any such...

Yes, his ancestors who set monuments all over the southern parts of the great isle are surely turning in their barrows.

Dang, and I was just about to ask what really happened with his barrel, not to mention his quest to understand federal vs. state gun law while acquiring long arms out of state.

Guy, why are you setting yourself limits? You know when you know.

Fox have pretty fluffed-out tails this time of year. I like the idea that's a big domestic cat. Fox from last weekend.

It could even be a bobcat given that much blur - I'm not sure the last 1/2 of the tail to the thing that looks like a dark tip of the tail really is part of a tail rather than some background.
