I got a nice shooting M1 from CMP when I lived in NC some years ago. Paid about half what they are asking for the 1911s. I'm not a 1911 guy but im guessing these are not on the approved list.

This is exactly my point. It is unclear so why risk it? its not a gray area, its an unknown area. Local shops initially were doing "consignment" sales which is the same thing as private party. They are not doing it any more because of the uncertainty. - - - Updated - - - Hahaha, I know...
