Springfield makes some decent 1911s. The rest of their handguns MEH.

For the life of me, I don't know what they were thinking.... other than, "How can I make the owner look like a douche without actually infringing on Hi-Point's designs?"

Maybe they think their customers need instructions on where and which part of the gun you use for your hands. Like this guy...

I'll probably get a Springfield GI at some point though

Picked up a 9mm Range Officer seems great. The Colt is available now too.

Just curious how's the RO 9mm handle? I was planning on getting the Ruger SR1911 in 9mm but I'm holding out for the RO. I'd like a full size 1911 in this caliber....

I had one for 4 years and shot very very smooth. Only thing I changed was put a Dawson precision fiber optic front sight.

If it wasn't for the grip safety I would have already bought an XD. Originally I thought it was just a trigger safety like the 1911 has, but to my surprise the grip safety disables the whole pistol. You can't rack the slide to load. unload or clear a failure to eject unless your hand is on the grip. Having a safety is not necessarily a bad thing as long as the operator can disable it, like the safety on a Shield. If the operator chooses he or she can leave it in the off position.

Very different gun. The 9mm SR1911 is really meant as a carry gun with its lightweight aluminum frame and combat style sights. The RO is all steel, full size and has adjustable target sights.

Yeah, I think if you are looking at SR1911 9mm then the Springfield you should be looking at is 1911 EMP 9mm which is also a carry gun.
