    Default Programming 1st Radio

I finally got the IC-2730A installed in my truck. Now for the programming. I am a newbie and this is my first radio. I have downloaded the ICOM programming software and have acquired the matching cable. Now learning the software without a manual is making me nuts. Watching other ICOM owners youtube videos(not this radio model) and have picked up some tips.

Am I wasting my time? Should I just manually entered the local repeaters and a couple of simplex frequencies and call it a day.

PRM, hope to escape to NH soon

Check out and DL the Icom manuals from here:

Also RT-Systems software is the programing solution. It will DL all the repeaters in the area for you and then you go thru them and pick the ones you want to program.

It took me a couple of months playing with the repeater list to get a reliable list where I'm not listening to digital transmissions on an FM transceiver (sounds like screeching).
