• Pennsylvania Republican Doubles Down: Defends Bill to Outlaw Private Gun Sales

    By AWR Hawkins

Pennsylvania Rep. Jamie Santora (R-163) defended his legislation outlawing private gun sales via the implementation of universal background checks during the May 30 airing of Whatever It Takes with Curt Schilling.

On May 28, Breitbart News reported that Santora wants to ban the private sales that Americans have enjoyed since the Second Amendment was ratified in 1791. His vehicle for doing this is an expansion of background checks wherein private gun sales are equated with retail gun sales, thereby forcing a law-abiding co-worker to seek out an agent of the state, fill out paperwork, and get permission–i.e., submit to a background check–before buying a gun from a co-worker. The bill would also mandate that a law-abiding friend seek out an agent of the state, fill out paperwork, and get permission before buying a gun from a law-abiding, lifelong friend. Fellow hunters would have to do the same: seek out an agent of the state, fill out paperwork, and get permission before a gun could be sold hunter to hunter.

What an ass. I would imagine he ignored hundreds of constituents who cry out for less gun control and even less government without batting an eye.

I doubt he's gonna be reelected. Delaware County isn't full moonbat quite yet. They won't appreciate this.

Rhode Island already enjoys the benefits of this type of law. I don't think it's doing much to keep guns out of criminal hands. The don't tend to transfer their guns at FFLs unless they have a straw buyer.

NC passed a pistol purchase permit law back in the Jim Crow days as a means of making it harder for black men to buy guns for self defense. The law is still on the books today.
Every gun purchaser must have a PPP (1 gun per permit) or a CCW (unlimited purchases) even for private sales.
NC is one of the states with a constitutional carry law pending in congress. This bill also eliminates the PPP.
Given that it is already illegal to sell or transfer a gun to a prohibited person, we don't need these other laws requiring permission to buy or sell a gun. They will never prevent criminals from getting guns.
