Wow.

I watch this video and just feel sick. Is this the people we're over there trying to help?
I can understand us doing away with the Taliban and al qaeda because they're a threat, but I can't believe the Afghan people...the same people who drove out the Soviets...are such gutless idiots. We're helping them, but it sure doesn't seem like they want to help themselves.
I'm going to say an extra prayer tonight for all American Patriots, and especially those serving over there.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!”

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
Why am I not surprised?

My brother trained Iraqi troops right before Fallujah, for 6 months or so, and they were useless. I got several emails from him right before they went in saying he wasnt depending on those bastards for anything-6 months of training, and they still couldnt do basic soldier stuff, like shoot straight, or maintain their gear. The only ones he trusted were the terps. Luckily, he was also working in a team with Americans. He told me if he died, it was likely because of the Iraqis he was working with. Pretty scary...
He mentioned 1 specific incident. They were going house to house, fighting a rolling firefight. They kicked in the door of a bomb making factory (a garage really), that had 100's of toy remote control trucks. They had to keep the Iraqis from playing with them!
Oh, and when they were done in Fallujah, they had dog & cat problems, so orders came down to shoot strays. Well, needless to say, this info wasnt passed on to the Iraqis, as they were afraid they would shoot each other. So, after 6 months of training, and a month fighting, they didnt trust soldiers (officers included) in the Iraqi army to do a simple task like that. Scary...
Part of the convoy security mission that my battalion had during our OIF deployment was to escort the bus loads of newly recruited and trained Iraqi police as they rotated to and from leave. It was our job to provide security for them as they traveled. However, we spent most of the time trying to keep the little bastards from running away every the buses stopped. You'd have to threaten to shoot them just to get them back on the bus. Dang that was irritating.
I know a couple guys that are deployed over there right now. Both of them confirm what oldsoldier29 and Oucmude wrote but with their own tales. Most of the other guys I know that have served there all have a common thread between them. They all say this has been an ongoing problem since we've been there and because of this and other reasons the whole area will implode within weeks of us pulling out. Watching videos like this and talking to friends who have actually been there makes me sick to my stomach. Talk about a cluster.![]()
I think they can't get over the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
Screw them. Can't we just sew up our borders and let the middle east eat itself?
If we let Israel do what she should, this whole problem would be done with.
Just call me Carl.
Just because you can't believe it, doesen't mean it isn't happening.
