Default Recommendations on a training class for a beginner

I'm brand new to shooting and hope to improve (or should I say, acquire) my skills. I'm interested in defensive handguns skills. Can anyone recommend a good class? I live in southeastern Mass., but would be willing to travel if it was worth it. Thanks in advance.

I checked their calendar and they won't be holding the Defensive Handgun I anytime soon. I will PM Jim and check the GOAL site. Thanks all!

Definitely +1 to the GOAL Basic Pistol course, as Bill and Ted would say, it was "Most Excellent" *cue air guitar*
