    Default Aimtech Shotgun Scope Mounts

I was looking at the aimtech website, and they have two different scope mounts for shotguns. I'm looking at mounting a red-dot on my Mossy 500 which has a vent rib barrel.

The first style is a saddle mount, which mounts on the reciever. The second style is a weaver/picatinny rail which mounts on the vent rib of the barrel.

This second style seems like a good idea, but i'm not sure if it would be too far forward and be out of range for the proper eye relief. Will I be ok since I'm using a red-dot scope? Or is the saddle mount better? EDIT: I would try to put the vent rib mount as close to the reciever as possible.

Does anyone have experience with these style mounts?

    Heres the link: http://www.aimtech-mounts.com/

I have a TruGlo 40mm Red Dot mounted on my Mossy 500 with a weaver base, works like a charm and was only like...11 bucks.

Did you have to have the reciever drilled & tapped?

No, the receiver is already tapped from the factory.

I had a reflex sight mounted on a weaver rail on my old Mossy 590. Weaver rail was pretty solid base and the distance was fine for it.
