11-23-2005, 11:32 AM #3I am a relatively new American, having migrated from Britain in 1965, and becoming an ardent American citizen in 1976. I realize that the desire to bear arms is a matter going back to the founding of the nation and is deep in the soul of most Americans in a way which I cannot feel or understand.“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government) those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny”
“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government”

it'll happen with as much ease as Americans will give up our cars.
Yeah I'm totally gonna sell my truck, and stand in the rain waiting for a Bus that smells like BO, and makes me car-sick because of the frequent stops.
Just like I'll sleep better at night knowing that I have a non-lethal chemical agent that may-or-may-not work on an attacker wanting to kill me, and rape my wife!

The time at which officialdom might abuse such a monopoly is miniscule when compared to the daily slaughter of Americans by Americans throughout the land.At my age, just about everything pisses me off !
Show me ANY law that would have stopped any of the school shootings.
Freedom has ceased to be a birthright; it has come to mean whatever we are still permitted to do.

I think he wants to go back to Britain. Yeah, That's it, but then my mother who is from Holland and just became a US citizen 2 years ago, feels the same way. She lived through WW2 and witnessed what the Nazi's did. Even though she was a child, some of what she told us was horrifying.
