What to do with junk primed brass?
I had about a case of commercially reloaded .223 given to me awhile ago. I tried a few and the case necks were braking off on extraction, some fail to fire, a couple of squibs- all in 50 rounds. So I have been pulling the bullets and tossing the powder on the lawn. My question is how to dispose of the primed cases? I have close to 1,000. Any thoughts?

I would decap them and sell the brass for scrap. You can drop it off any time

Wear safety glasses and decap them slowly. Empty the spent primer cup often.

I wonder if they used cases from blanks to make those reloads?
If you want to not drop a case worth of live primers into the trash you can pull the bullets, dump the powder, and pop off the caps with the gun. They aren't that loud so you could easily do so in a basement or garage. You could always try adding wax bullets to that mix too.

If the cases are that bad you could wack the case flat on the primer end.....like setting of caps ........I smack'em at work on a anvil. Safely, gloves and safety glasses. I don't care what peaople say they are load.

Personally, popping them off is my preferred method. Oil doesn't deactivate 100%, I've found.
I hear scrap brass brings about $1.70 a pound, so you'll have enough scrap to make the trip worthwhile.

The fail-to-fire and squibs...bad primers or powder?
I bought a couple 100 rounds of bad brand-name factory-remanufactured ammo..every round either had a split neck, or it split upon firing. I pulled them down and re-used everything but the cases. Deprime slowly...I've never had one go off on me.
If the primers are crap, stuck the primed cases in your gun and pop 'em. More fun than soaking them in WD40.Member GOAL & NRA
