Someone did this a few years ago and posted a YouTube video on how to hack these variable sign units.
Jalopnik picked up on the story and a lot of people started to do it.
Some municipalities were not amused.
The authorities had the video pulled from YouTube and made Jalopnik revise the story, sans video link, and add the warning NOT to do this.
