because fitchburg has zero other problems to address
http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com...-slow-down-andFitchburg officers have been out in full force all over the city doing details in which a plainclothes officer will attempt to cross the street when a vehicle approaches. Much of their work is centered around the Main Street and Boulder Drive area.
The detail is made possible by a grant the Police Department received from the state and targets trouble spots in the city. The details are done every couple of weeks.
nice to see my tax dollars going to work protecting crosswalks. why don't you guys turn the streetlights back on, or maybe address all the gang and drug-related issues instead? oh wait, this is just easier, right?

I always make a good effort to stop at the crosswalk, but sometimes I am taken by surprise. Such as the trick of standing behind a parked car then suddenly starting to cross one second before I have reached the crosswalk. I'm sure the police would never resort to tricks like this to raise revenue.

So they are targeting their own citizens unless I miss the hordes of tourist that go there.

A friend of mine just got popped for this on boulder drive. She was driving in the right lane and the "pedestrians" were on the sidewalk on the left side of the road. I told her to fight it using chapter 89 section 11 of ma traffic law. Pedestrian has to be within 10 feet of your lane to require you to stop. Lanes are wider than 10 feet. I would have argued then and there with the cop, but if you aren't informed, then you get ****ed by traffic cops who are also uninformed. Seriously, there is better things they could spend their time and money on.
