Bad news, was thinking of doing that hike with my son in a few weeks. Almost went off that ravine when I was 12, got stuck in blizzard half way up.

Mt. Washington is like the Rodney Dangerfield of mountains. It can't get no respect.
But it should. The fasted recorded surface wind speed was recorded on Washington: http://www.mountwashington.org/about...recordwind.php
Weather changes on a dime too. You can be at the Lake of the Clouds Hut with sunny skies, 80* temps and ascent to the summit and you're in dense, low-visibility fog at 40* temps.
Not sure if this is in any way relevant to the current situation, but just sayin'...In Liberty,

There's a number of places on the trails to get crippled or killed by accident going up Mount Washington.

Thanks for that info John.
I guess it's better that he died of natural causes than by accident on the trail.
It gives the mountain a bad rap when people fall and get killed because it discourages tourism.
